Sg is costly cannot be help but what's the pt of comparing since Singaporean don't pay that anyway

Could you re-read my message again regarding charges Singaporean banks impose for using their cards at overseas ATMs?

citibank create a USD account, than u exchange it online

Citibank, as HSBC does not use interbank rates when exchanging money online, they use their own rates which can add 5%.

So if you are OK to pay $50 extra to do it via online vs $3-$7 for ATM withdrawal - sure, go ahead.

Citibank has free overseas withdrawals from their ATMs.

Other Services | Card Activation Guide | Overseas Usage Activation - Citibank Singapore

I've withdrew before, twice in Moscow. Rates were pretty competitive. Well, I changed USD/EURO to Rubles in the banks in Russia.

Citibank has pretty good exchange rates using their credit cards too. I've used Citibank credit cards in the Philippines, Taiwan, Georgia and Malaysia and some of the rates are even better than at the money exchange!

Hi guys, I might be heading to Seattle in the first week of August. I have a few possible options to get there:

1) Redeem KF miles on SQ and fly to SFO then take a domestic flight to SEA. With the 70k miles, I'll still need to pay $900+ for the surcharges. One-way domestic flight is probably another $200

2) Buy ticket from Eva Air which flies to Seattle directly via Taipei. Ticket price is about $1.5k as of now.

KF miles redemption for Eva Air is probably out of question since I need like 100+k miles which doesn't makes sense so is there any alternative to use some of my miles and get to Seattle and possibly pay less?

TIA.

Buy a new ticket. SQ KF fuel and tax can be very expensive.

Yup, I understand it's pretty expensive. The new ticket to SEA (codeshare with Asiana) will cost about $2.8k which is almost the price of Eva's elite class though.

Kf redemption isnt worth using unless in biz or first.
The redemption cost is just too high.

To seattle, u can also fly asiana, ana, korean air or delta.

If you have enough miles in your Citibank CCs, you can transfer them to Eva Air and redeem direct with Eva Air.

But at $900 for surcharge I rather pay cash for the ticket. Lookout for deals to SEA.

Thanks lcpteck, unfortunately my points are all with DBS so I will most likely purchase a fare from one of the airlines that flies there. Eva air is cheapest now but that may change in a few mths down the road.

I was planning a similar itinerary. Pretty tight for a 3 weeks trip. Also, the $1088 is valid for LA and JFK. Las Vegas and San Francisco, the flights are more expensive on DL. Also, flights from Las Vegas and San Francisco to Tokyo aren't direct.

By any chance anyone has signed up USA package tour with any travel agency and has good reviews to share? Looking to bring my wife to USA trip but since I'm the only driver and too busy to plan, eliminated the self-drive and free-and-easy parts of it...thanks!
