I've read that you're going to Orlando? If you manage to get a booking and don't mind the costs, you can stay at Disneyworld!
Actually I stayed at Westgate Leisure Resort for a while because I used to work at a themepark in Orlando.
In Orlando you'll mostly be traveling along International Drive and there are the I Ride Trolleys (public buses) that will take you along the main attractions of this road.
You might also be taking the Lynx buses too, it's quite easy to get around Orlando by public transport (although there are long waiting times if you miss the bus).
I would recommend Disneyworld (obviously), Seaworld and Universal Studios. There are also random smaller themeparks along the road like Wet n Wild.
But you should probably concentrate on Disneyworld, Seaworld and Universal Studios if you don't have the time. Disneyworld alone is HUGE, it has its own postal service! You actually have to take a train or ferry in Disney to get around the different worlds.
Seaworld could be done in a day if you raced around and decide on the attractions you want to see. Catch the Shamu and dolphin shows. Buy a turkey leg (recommended! It's huge though!)
Catch the Cirque du Soleil show too! Only an hour and a half, might be pricey if you're a poor student (worker).
Eating places:
Olive Garden (love love along Int'l Drive)
IHOP a.k.a International House of Pancakes (they serve pancakes all day and sunny eggs and bacon and waffles and more! There's one along International Drive)
House of Blues (you can visit it during your trips to Disney, very interestingly decorated restaurant)
Bubba Gump Shrimp (Universal Studios)
The food in Orlando is tinged with Latin and Mexican accents. There's a very laid-back, latino vibe too! The clubbing scene is like that too lol.
From Orlando, it's about a 4 hour drive to Miami. You can also visit Cocoa beach if you have the time, the sands are cocoa-coloured!
Shopping wise, there's the typical Orlando Premium and Prime outlets, accessible by bus too.
Warning: Taking public transport might be a very interesting experience especially if the services also go to Kissimmee. The name sounds cute and nice but don't think it's really that cute and nice. Don't be too shocked if you see drunkards, or loud people etc etc on the buses. They'll normally leave you alone, don't get too riled up if you do hear racist comments too.
Don't venture out too late at night without a car, stay around the touristy Int'l Drive area and you should be quite safe. Don't be too freaked out by my warnings too, they are just precautions, if I was a single Asian girl traveling by bus without hazard then it should be quite ok for you and your friends too
