Planning to bring my 65 years old mom to USA. Not planning to drive. As she loves nature, would it be a waste if I just bring her to Niagara Falls and Washington DC?

Not sure if Boston and Philadelphia would be interesting to somebody with no knowledge of American history.

Anybody can share their views on their visit to the east coast? Thanks.

will u be driving??
cos when u do, there are so many nice scenes, rivers, and also parks.

boston n phil more city like, though has got some history

when i drove to woodbury, n decide to make a visit to West Point Academy, the route took me by surprise, so nice, serene peaceful..damn relaxing man

I'm more of a west-coaster, not an east-coaster, but yeah, if she likes nature and you're not driving you're missing out on a lot. There are some nice parks in DC, but you'll need to take taxis to get to them.

hi guys

AT&T or T mobile reliable? price for LA?

Go for AT&T if you can - they've got a much bigger network - but they're occasionally a bit picky about hooking tourists up with monthly plans. If AT&T won't hook you up, T-Mo is fine.

Niagara Falls is nature, one giant waterfall and u can take a boat ride up to the falls itself.
There is also a hurricane walk where u can walk up to the base of the falls.
Quite interesting.

DC/Philadelphia are just buildings.
Super boring especially Philadelphia.

East coast is not so "good" for nature stuff.
There are forests up in the Northeast like Maine and very pretty during the autumn fall colours.
There are also beaches but other than that, nothing much.

If she likes nature, west coast is much better.

Since u stated no plans to drive, philly would be boring
Boston pretty much so

Niagara Falls some nature not much. But since u there close to thousand islands

If u venture outside the city there are more nature to see. Even if u went to the our so call west coast (California) if u spend time in San Fran or LA not driving there isn't much nature to see. Sure u can book expensive tour to go out to Grand Canyon but it's not west coast but u can do the same with east coast by going inlands

North east - national parks u get
Acadia national park
Cape cod national lake shore

Go Canada
- cape Breton highlands
- gros morne
- etc etc
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_National_Parks_of_Canada

Outside national parks u have state parks and provincial parks
Algonquin In Ontario is like Yellowstone in a way can check out wild animals

Thanks for all the replies. I may go during autumn so that can see the fall foliage. As for west coast, I have been there before and it really need a car. I heard that east coast public transport is better.
As this is her first time in USA, New York should be interesting as well. Fly in to NYC, then flight to Buffalo for Niagara Falls and then to Washington. Three places should be less tiring.
Will check out all the recommended parks. Would we be able to find good cheap lobsters in NYC if I skip Boston?

Try Chelsea Market, The Lobster Place. about US $25 for a medium size steam lobster. Juicy, fresh and very meaty.

In DC, try blue duck tavern for really good brunch/breakfast!

Better bet - if you're doing a 4-hour or longer drive, have someone to split the drive with.

You should tag out every two hours on these sort of drives anyway; even if all you do is pull over, swap drivers and then get going again, it's still worth taking a break. If you're the only driver, then you need to be really careful on long drives; take plenty of coffee breaks and lunch breaks, and absolutely don't try to push yourself for more than eight hours' driving a day.

Hi, if anyone wants to share the cost for national park annual pass please let me know. Thanks! :)

http://www.nps.gov/findapark/passes.htm

Should be about $85 USD or so - that was what I paid in 2013, though I haven't renewed mine this year. It's totally worth it, though, if you're doing more than one or two parks.

...wait, I just checked, it says on the page you linked to that it's $80.

Affirmative - if one goes and visits Zion, Bryce and GC North Rim - that's three NP could be done in three days and that's would be already $80.

You want to share the cost of the $80 pass don't want to pay the full amount and make it more worth it even if u visiting many expensive parks but just don't like to pay the $80.

You may split the cost with the party of 4-8 in your car but you wish to bring the $$ down as much as possible right?

Not true. You can enter USA again, however there is great possibility that will be arrested at the entrance and traffic infraction could by that time turn into misdemeanor or felony. Which means that not only you will need to pay the original fine and all the interest the fine generated (could be 10x and more of the original amount), but serve time into "pound my a$$ federal prison" (C) "Office Space".

One thing is not paying $20 parking ticket and second is to get ticket for 95 mph 50mph zone and leave country without paying.

So. Don't do it.
