Hi Peeps,

I'll be travelling alone in NYC for effectively 5 days. Landing EWR and flying out JFK.

I'm only staying in the nyc area and maybe 1 day out to the jersey gardens outlet.

Im thinking of getting the 7 days unlimited metrocard, is it a good idea?

Depemds on your usage? You have to do your own calculation. Are you taking lots of metro or ubering ard?

Im struggling to figure out which buses and which trains are covered.

E.g if i take bus 111 from port authority bus terminal to jersey gardens. Is it covered?

Also, is the staten island ferry or the governer's island ferry better for SOL views?

Im reading we can get good views of both the manhattan skyline at governer's island, and also get a glimpse of the SOL.

Any uber/Lyft from LAX to Buena Park before? Based on my internet check, the price is about USD40, but not sure if it is accurate.

TIA

you can download uber and input the destination yourself to get the price.

rule of thumb is, if you can't use the metro card you can't use that pass cause it is loaded into it.
anyway 111 belongs to njtransit so you can't really use it.

Uber price vary depending on time of day. Less rides more demand higher the price. It’s not really taxi rate. Read below

Also, i'm soloing this trip. :)

Los tacos is damn gooooddd! That and high line you can fit in any day since you’re staying in the area.

You probably have to go easy on day 1 since you will be fighting jet lag. You will likely feel like going to bed by 8-9pm or earlier. :s13:

Five guys, chipotle and shake shack are everywhere so may not have to plan specifically for it. Just walk in any outlet and have a snack. For Katz I suggest avoid meal times to cut queuing time. I remembered by about 8:30pm there was almost no queue, maybe can try your luck for 3-5pm as well.

NY Public Library go in the day, central station nicer at night IMO with the lighting - you can also go twice to see for yourself.

Trump tower is a 5min thing, take photo and leave but I was told Trump ice cream in the lobby is very nice (didn’t try myself). That you can put together with the cathedral and Rockefeller.

I really really enjoyed the Met and regretted not going earlier, I suggest at least 3hrs (I’m a history buff :o )

Can consider a stroll (or bike) along Hudson River Park, cut through Tribeca then onto 911 memorial.

yellow cab to JFK flat $50 before tip. I had to pay 2-way toll :s11:

Are the bikes youre referring to the citi bikes? I think i may give them a miss haha cause i'll be buying the unlimited metro ticket.

Are there tips for taking the subway? I read one which said avoid going into an empty carriage, cause theres a reason why its empty lol.

The cab would be too pricey for me...i'll be taking the air train(5usd) and subway(covered by metrocard). Hope i got the prices right.

I havent figured out how to get from ewr to manhattan as thats the airport im flying in. The newark airport express has pretty bad reviews. Can you purchase tickets on the bus? Are there other alternatives to get to manhattan?
