think he means the GPS as a top up option.

if i got a TOMTOM and i just buy the USA map will it be safer?

also got a question, anybody got any nice experience with NYC to Niagara waterfalls 1 day, day trip? any

- recommendations for a tripped guide? [https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attract...ARA&d=2038373&aidSuffix=xsell&partner=Viator] - freaking exp.

- or if booked on your own how much does it cost? i guess will be cheaper but quite a hassle to travel from NYC to buffalo in a day. If the price margin is very little i will take the trip ..

any help?

Better and cheaper: if you don't want to use Google Maps' offline mode, get the Navigon USA app for your smartphone of choice. It should run you about $60 for the whole of the USA; it doesn't use data; you aren't left with a useless lump of hardware at the end of your journey; and when you come back next time, you can update the maps (you get a free update every two years, or when you install it on a new phone) and go on your merry way.

Does anybody have an itinerary for San Francisco and Las Vegas?

I'll be there for a week before heading over to NYC. I'm thinking 5 days San Francisco and 2 days in Las Vegas. Out of the 5 days in San Francisco, I'm thinking of going out on a day trip to Yosemite (Is that wise or sufficient? Wanted to stay there actually but the hotel prices are insane.) Also, do I need an entire day for Alcatraz? Is union square worth going if I'm eventually heading to NYC to shop?

Yosemite: yes, do a day trip, it's amazing.

Alcatraz: you'll take most of a day to do it properly, yeah.

Union Square: you're probably going to be staying near there anyway, so you might as well, plus there's tons of shops around there (everything from Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack, and Macys all the way up to Dior and Barneys).

I'm sorry maybe i'm ignorant, why would you want to spend one whole precious day in alcatraz?

For my 5 days in San Francisco, I was thinking

1 day for Golden Gate Bridge + Sausalito
1 day for Yosemite
1 day for Alcatraz, Pier 39, Fisherman's wharf
1 day for mission district, Delores Park, Castro district and twin peaks (is this too ambitious?)

The last day will be more free and easy and to finish up whatever we did not get to do. Are there any attractions which I left out that are worth going?

Also, I read that if you are a foodie, you should stay at the Mission district but some reviews say that it's dangerous? Is it safe for 2 girls to stay there?

If you're interested in shopping, it's worth spending a couple of hours in Hayes Valley checking out the indie boutiques around there. And your fourth day is totally fine - walking from Mission to Dolores Park to Castro takes literally fifteen minutes.

Also, I read that if you are a foodie, you should stay at the Mission district but some reviews say that it's dangerous? Is it safe for 2 girls to stay there?

The Mission's a bit sketchy in parts (Mission St itself), but unbelievably posh in other parts (Valencia St, two blocks away). There's really not a lot of places to stay there anyway unless you're AirBnB-ing it - I'd get a hotel around Union Square or in SoMa instead. It's easy to get to the Mission from there: just take BART.

Hey, this is just me, but I think Alcatraz is fascinating. It's a little microcosm of US history - from its days as a high-security prison to the Native American riots - and the views are fantastic.

Hahaha no worries. I was just asking.
I mean I've seen the movies and all.
One day there as in.. In the morning right? Or how long does one spend there? Hahaha.

Half a day is usually enough; that gives you time to hit some museums in the afternoon (the Exploratorium! the Cal Academy! the De Young!).

You can use activate your data passport just upsize and you do not need to buy extra card in US. I upsize mine to 25gb more then enough for facebook whatsapp and email.
