Just quietly: don't tell the customs guys that you're looking for a job when you go through immigration. If you're a tourist, you're supposed to be doing touristy things, not job-hunting; tell 'em you're here on holiday.

till today, i am not sure what hotels to choose hahaa..
so many good choices!

If you wish to visit all the casinos(Caesar palace, MGM, Wynn, Bellagio, etc) along the LV strip, try to book a hotel along the main area of the strip. You save a lot of time and cab fare. Just returned from my trip and found out that a 10-15 mins taxis ride cost $10-$12USD from the strip(Caesar palace) to my hotel at circus circus(at edge of the strip).

after 9/11 it's really a lot harder for a foreigner to get a job in the US. Even for international students studying in a US uni right now, after their education is completed they only have 1-year of OPT (Optional Practical Training) to remain in the US to work before they have to go back to wherever they came from.

you cannot receive a Social Security Number that also makes it easier for you to apply for jobs unless you
1) are authorized beforehand to work in the US
2) have been admitted to the US as a nonimmigrant visitor for business or
3) have gotten it from working on-campus in a university in the US as a student after at least a 1-year's stay.

what you need to work in the US is either a H1B, or an L-1. For L1 you will need to have been employed in a US company based in Singapore who decided to transfer you over for executive business purposes; for H1B you need whichever company in US that decides to employ you to apply a H1B for you.

The problem with job applications is that, if the interviewer sees that you do not have a work permit, that would make you a lot less desirable than an American who is readily available there. They need to fork out a good amount to get a work permit for you, so you need to really have an exemplary skillset or expertise for them to apply a H1B for someone who's not even in the company yet. The other problem is almost everyone in the world wants to work in the US, meaning you're competing with all those hardcores from China, Korea, Indian IT guys etc.

So basically if you haven't studied or worked in the US before, trying to find a job there is nearly impossible la

Yep, agreed. Look on a map before you book - basically everything from the Monte Carlo north to the Wynn is fair game (this includes most of the big names). The ones that are out - the Mandalay Bay (it's really nice but it's a long way down the end of the strip), the Luxor, the Excalibur (which is awful anyway), the Rio (go there to see Penn & Teller, but don't stay there), the Palms (too far off the strip), and most of downtown (especially Circus Circus - just 'cause it's cheap doesn't mean it's a good idea).

if u drive, it is okay... haha i actually like circus circus when i was there because it was kinda novel.
NYNY and the Sahara hotel both have rollercoasters... kinda cool.

so many interesting type of hotels there!
i remember mgm's lobby is huge.

There are ppl who fly in and be illegal!!
How long are u there? 3 mths getting a interview maybe possible, but the 1st 10 qns will often include are u authorize to work in USA. In your case NO, so they will hang up the phone or they will ask if u need h1b transfer, no bye bye. Apply for a new h1b must for a few mths for the next avail quota. H1b1 most employer not familiar and don't want to fees every yr. if u damn good they cannot find locals u are there. If just some avg joe it's near impossible.

Best is go illegal and get your kid born in USA. Wait 20yrs to be legal, but if before that get found out u can forget about stepping into USA for the next 10 yrs or life

stayed at Luxor when i was at LV- Sin city.

went to Bellagio for its water fountain show, Volcano at the Mirage
..can try Gordan Ramsay BurGR for those who like burger by a celebrity chef. queue is long during meal time.

take a stroll after a meal..weather is cooling...the night scene is simply amazing....people walking around with booze in their hands...

just watch out of those rowdy peeps loitering on the bridge..lol.

I REALLY doubt that this is best thing. As a person who have observed how illegals live in States - trust me, you do not want to have a living hell next 20 or more years when you will be afraid to every cop and waiting until someone from three-letter agency is going to knock on your door at night.

For a guy from rural Mexico with 4 class elementary school education and no other option to work except for cash and get paid less than federal minimum becoming illegal might be a better option than staying in his village.

But not for one who has education/experience - there are always better option than this.

I am really surprised that I have to explain this. Let me repeat, if one is illegal in States, than:

1. There is no way to be officially hired for a job in any normal company (google what form I-9 is for). The only jobs which would be available is extremely low paid, unskilled manual labor.

2. In most of States one can't get driver's license or State ID. With all the consequences.

3. You can't get SSN (Social Security Number). This with the combination #2 makes you like non-existent

4. You'd have difficulty opening bank accounts and/or getting insurance

5. You can't have health insurance as well. As a result the only option available for you is emergency rooms because they can't refuse patients, but any other doctor's visit in any normal clinic/hospital won't be an option.

6. You will be living in constant fear to be caught and deported. This profoundly transforms one's personality - like you are always on run.

7. Because you are illegal, you have much higher risk to be exposed to crime and have crimes committed against you because perps know that you won't go to police.

I think this is enough. If you do not believe me, ask others who are living in States.

For cheap and good (relative to LV of course), recommend Treasure Island without blasting a hole in your pocket. Nice view, spacious rooms, when I was there twice (once 14 years ago and once last year), Cirque du Soleil was performing. It's getting older than the other newer hotels but sleeping in a cheap room at night doesn't mean I can't see the Venetian in the day
