Hi i'm planning a trip to NYC, say if I have 10 days in Mid March what would you recommend? fly in/out JFK.

I tried finding tours for NYC, but like not much.

however for West Coast I've seen tours that usually cover SFO/LAS/LAX

So for NYC, which are the few nearby cities/places of interest to cover?

1st day reach NYC will take flight to toronto...
- 4 days toronto including 1 day to niagara fall (is day trip sufficient or need to stay overnight)
- 2 days montreal
- 2 days quebec city
- 6 days new york

not really into museum and history hence not visiting dc/boston.

Um. What are you into, then?

I agree with the people who've said Toronto is a bit boring; four days is way too long to spend there. Maybe skip it entirely, and give yourself a couple extra days in Montreal and Quebec, and an overnight in Niagara?

Try calling the Bellagio direct - +1 702-693-7111 is the number, and ask them to put you through to the reservations desk.

They'll usually do a few things:
1) They'll match the Zuji price if you tell them where you found it;
2) They'll give you a reservation without charging you - so your card doesn't get charged until you check out, but you still get all the credit card points;
3) You'll usually get a nicer room - reservations through aggregators like Zuji and Expedia always get given the worst rooms.

One other thing: $1500 at the Bellagio is a fair chunk of change. If you book directly with the hotel, and sign up to the MGM loyalty card (it's called MLife), $1500 will be enough to get you directly to Pearl status (and pretty close to Gold if you start charging meals to your room and things like that). If you book through an aggregator you won't get the MLife credits.

And you get 5-10% off at some shops in the MGM resorts just for signing up to MLife, so it's worth doing it just for that.

What I did eventually:
1. book online directly with Bellagio at SGD$1576.
2. Then emailed them a completed best rate guarantee claim form with Zuji quotation at SGD$1232 (after 12% amex discount code)
3. Several weeks later and after several emails/fax (not sure if it was my yahoo email problem but finally received reply at my gmail account) that they will match zuji price and reduce it by a further 10% at SGD$1112
4. used citibank pm to get 2 miles per $

Have anyone tried renting a car from Hertz before?

I've booked a car for 5 days, it includes:

Loss Damage Waiver
Liability Insurance Supplement
Personal Accident Insurance / Personal Effects Coverage
Unlimited Free Miles Included

Total damage is USD$310.31

Is this a okay deal? Anyone had problems with them before?

Sounds like a decent deal.

Be sure to check the car properly for damages before taking it.
Also take pics of the entire car before returning.

You might also be able to credit the car rental to hotel or airline miles.

Are you renting a vehicle? And on which day do you have a veh?

Most likely getting a vehicle when i leave vegas for Bryce (LV->Bryce->GCV->LV) (Day 5 to Day7) and also LA & San Diego (Day 8 and 9).

Wife still wana go Premium Outlets .. sighh..... wallet pain...

SF i understand is quite accessible by public transport ? How about LV ? Do i need a car there to move around the different casinos and malls

Day10: Disneyland @ LAX

Currently I have 2 more days but uncertain where to park them.

Looks pretty good to me; let's see if we can't make it even better.

Day 2: if the missus is gagging to shop, let her go for it and get it out of her system. You can take the kids and head out to Golden Gate Park: go to the Cal Academy of Science (the kids will love it), and then stop by the Japanese Tea Gardens to drum some culture into them. This'll take up most of a day, and then you can meet back at the hotel; the kids will love you, the missus will love you, you'll be a hero. (Also, tell her to check out the shops in Hayes Valley or Valencia Street - there's all sorts of cool, uniquely San Francisco things to buy there.)

Day 2a: Stick an extra day in San Francisco. Go to the zoo, or the Exploratorium and Pier 39, or hop on a ferry to Sausalito and go eat some icecream over there.

Day 5: Stick an extra day in here. Don't try to drive all the way to Bryce Canyon in one day - you'll miss all of the incredible scenery on the way at the Valley of Fire and Zion Canyon. Stop at Springdale instead, right at the door to Zion Canyon; then you can spend the morning in the park, and have a nice leisurely two-hour drive to Bryce the next afternoon.

Day 5a: On the Bryce-GCV drive, don't forget to stop at the Cameron Trading Post (just near the turnoff to GCV) to pick up some authentic native American souvenirs. And try the fry bread. It's goooooooood.

Also, make sure your GPS knows about the "89-T" diversion - the usual road from Bryce to GCV was washed away in a landslide a few months ago, and the road has been diverted between the little town of Page (about halfway along) and GCV. Stop in Page if you need to, and ask someone how to get to 89-T; they'll help you out.

Day 8: So here's a trick. Disneyland is in Anaheim, on the east side of Los Angeles, the side facing Las Vegas. LAX is on the west side, an hour's drive away on a good day (and it's never a good day in Los Angeles). It'll be quicker and cheaper to drive from LV to Anaheim (four hours) than it will be to dump the car, fly four people to LAX, pick up a new car, and drive two hours across LA to Anaheim. So - drive instead! Pay the one-way fee on the car rental if you have to; it'll still be cheaper than four one-way LAS-LAX flights.

Get a hotel in Anaheim, near the park, and that'll give you a fairly easy 90-minute drive down to San Diego if you still want to get down there to Sea World.

SF is very accessible - you can get anywhere on the Muni buses for two bucks. Pier 39? Two bucks. Coit Tower? Two bucks. Cal Academy? Two bucks. The zoo? Two bucks.

Las Vegas... not so much. The Deuce bus runs up and down the strip pretty frequently, and is eight bucks for a 24-hour ticket, so that's the best way to see the strip, but as soon as you want to go off-strip, or to downtown, or to the Premium Outlets, or to Red Rock Canyon for some hiking, you're much better off driving.

And Los Angeles makes Vegas look like a public-transport paradise. LA's public transport is The Worst Thing In The World.

vegas there is a bus that goes up and down the strip.
not sure 4 adults includes elderly if so you may wanna consider the bus option.
the strip is like Orchard Road just longer. if U can walk from say shaw house to paragon repeatedly its like that from Casino to Casino.

orchard towers to SMU is 3km walk
the strip is (Luxor to Encore) is 4.5 km walk

there are many premium outlets in your route.
u already burn $1k on airticket, whats burning a few hundred shopping.
shopping hardly a guy thing, then again if she want to buy in states vs sg.. sg wallet more pain for he same goods.

u can allocate a day to shop in LA and San Diego. dont buy too many stuff and pay crazy money to check in those bags not worth it.

have U book your domestic tickets? if not the "extra" day in San Fran rather than going to Outlet U can check out Sonoma Valley.

as for LA outlet its really between these 2 outlets. your queen decide which one she wanna go.
http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/store_listing.asp?id=20
http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/store_listing.asp?id=6

you having 2 kids 2 and 6 yrs old. the issue here is spending time on the road strapping them to car seats (u do know that is a MUST). you 2 yr old may not want to return to the car after a break in a long drive. not sur about u, its frustrating to listen to the crying and the constant "are we there yet" or " how long does it takes". 6 yr old may requires alot of bath room breaks. 4 hr drive easily become 5-6hrs. Do factor that in. or U can use ipads to calm them down but its not good for their eyes if U are concern.

my kids are like your kids age, I actually have a portable toilet in the mini van just in case traveling on HWY and no rest stop. my 6 yr old don't want to be in diapers.

Hiking in national parks, while its a fun idea to visit these parks but carrying a 2 or 6 yr old hiking is no fun not to mention dangerous if U fall. some places not concrete walk way, but just rocks/sand/mud. So consider how long they can walk to the scenic spot and back. Oh.. then there is nap time.

Thanks Shiny Things,patryn33.
Most of the stuff has yet to be book, only confirmed on the tickets from SIN to SF and LAX to SIN. Your inputs really help (in fact some of the stuff were taken from your earlier threads eg LV Springdale Bryce GCV route)

Now with the itinerary almost in place, I can start hunting hotels, car (need to find 1 big enough to handle the passengers and luggage) and domestic tickets.

Day0 : SF (Touchdown 12noon, Union Square walkaround)
Day1 : SF (Fisherman Wharf, Lombard St, Pier39,Sausalito)
Day2 : SF (Golden Gate Park,Golden Gate Bridge)
Day3: SF (Sonoma Valley?)
Day4 : Domestic Flight (morning) to Las Vegas (Visit Casinos, etc)
Day5 : Las Vegas (Attractions and Shows)
Day6 : Drive to Springdale (Overnight @ Sringdale)
Day7 : Drive to Bryce (Overnight @ Bryce)
Day8 : Drive to Grand Canyon Village (GCV) (Overnight @ GCV)
Day9 : Back to Vegas (Shopping @ Premium outlet, overnight @ vegas)
Day10 : Morning drive to Los Angeles (Disneyland area)
Day11: LAX drive to San Diego (Seaworld for kids), back to LAX
Day12: Disneyland @ LAX
Day13: Afternoon flight back to SG

Hi, I also intend to do the same route as you, SIN to SFO, LAX to SIN. Which dates are you looking at and how much did you pay for your air tickets? Thanks!
