Unfortunately I think T-Mobile's your only choice - AT&T used to sell GoPhone SIMs with prepaid data, but they don't any more.

If anyone knows of any wireless carriers other than the big four who'll do SIM + data prepaid, let me know.

Please remember - if you are using LTE band (AKA iphone 5 or newer devices), US LTE frequencies are different. In this case fallback will be on 3G.

But you'll be lucky to get 3G data on prepaid card. Last May Tmobile's prepaid data sims were limited to EDGE coverage in Bay Area.

I think this is fixed now: the problem is that T-Mo's 3G network wasn't compatible with the iPhone. They've rolled out their LTE network now, which is iPhone compatible, so you should be fine (though if you find this isn't the case, let us know).

LOL. From what I can find online, T-mobile uses LTE bands 2 and 4 with band 12 coming up. The only common band with the local iPhone 5S/5C set is band 2, with band 2 to be de-commissioned by end of 2015, as these are acquired when they bought Metro PCS. I'm sure they are going to de-commission slowly, so your coverage gets less and less. Also, LTE does not support traditional voice calls.
