Hi guys, I'll be going to USA on April 2016 for a exchange program. I have a week before the program starts so I'm looking for things to do/eat/play.

Currently my plan is to stop at Los Angeles, rent a car to drive around then drive up to San Francisco, hopefully there's stuff to do along the way since I see its about a 6 hour drive..
So... can you guys recommend some things to do in Los Angeles and San Francisco?

Yeah, chuck this question in the US Help thread and you'll get a ton of answers - most of us in America usually track that thread. Couple of things though:

  • A week is not a long time! You can easily spend 2-3 days doing that drive from LA to SF - stop for a night in Pismo Beach, and another night in Big Sur, and bang, there's three days gone. Make sure you drive up highway 1, though, not highway 101 or interstate 5.
  • You haven't told us what you like! If you like theme parks there's no reason to go to SF - all the theme parks are in LA. If you like culture there's not much reason to spend time in LA, because all the good museums are in SF (except for maybe LACMA if you like contemporary art). If you like shopping then it's all the same in either city. If you like wine, then obviously SF, but you've got the San Luis Obispo wine district about halfway up the coast. If you like the outdoors, then fly to SF instead and drive around from there, because all of the good outdoorsy stuff is near SF.

Thanks for the input! Still doing research about the area lol.
And the US thread is so huge at 196 pages and that's a lot of reading to do
