There are buyers and there are sellers.

I am vested in AAPL and I got them between USD94 and USD99 and I had hit my quota for my portfolio. I will wait for an opportunity to average up when I rebalance my US shares.

AAPL if you greedy still ok, at least it's product is really selling. Fall also got a limit... Others maybe not.

EXAS falls on earnings

EXACT Sciences (NASDAQ:EXAS): Q4 EPS of -$0.38 beats by $0.01.
Revenue of $1.5M (+44.2% Y/Y) misses by $0.02M.

Exact Sciences (EXAS) Falls: Stock Goes Down 5.6% - February 24, 2015 - Zacks.com

Should I buy more?

SBUX worth vesting ma? It's at a record high though

I'm also interested in SBUX... haha. Wait a year+ still going up...:s22:

You are humble. Yea, because of you, i also started reading seeking alpha. Thanks for sharing.

I have limited USD funds, and betted mostly on oil counters. They have been bobbling up and down depending on the price of oil each day. But i asume oil price will go up someday.

In case anyone think my picks are always awesome...

I lost and is still holding on the following counters

CVX (oil plunge, big lost on this)
COP (oil plunge, manageable lost)
AGNC (high risk reits, big lost)
BKCC (high risk reits, big lost but I hold till nearly green liao)
DX (Mid risk reits, big lost but I hold till nearly green liao)
BDCL (one of those leveraged high risk play)
CEFL (one of those leveraged high risk play)
MORL (one of those leveraged high risk play)
BABA (1 share nia, a punt)
XOM (was in the green even after oil plunge until recently, power of blue chips)
EXAS (just today, huge drop on poor earnings report)

I lost and let go the following counters

ED (lack of holding power when I first started out buying stocks, if I hold, it's green.)
GORO (this is the killer, I ride it up from $16 to $20+ and didn't let go till $12)
CTL (This one is because of dividend cut, turns out the cut was a good decision, I didn't follow the SA author who say the management was good.)
FB (ya, laugh coz I already bought at a low $20 and yet I still lost. Lack holding power.)
ZNGA (for fun, turns out not so fun when it's not a game, small lost.)
VVC (lack of holding power when I first started out buying stocks, if I hold, it's green.)
SO (lack of holding power when I first started out buying stocks, if I hold, it's green.)

Generally, I lost on Reits, BDC, Energy counters. Just to note, those counters I let go above are mainly my early year+ mistakes so I guess I have learned something since I make less mistakes now.

As can be seen in this classic example here, blue chips counter can be hit big when crisis comes(oil plunge in this case).
But was the blue chip oil counter expensive? Not in my view when oil was $100...
And as can be seen, even during a crisis(for oil), blue chips can take the hit. Look at bluest of all, XOM, hardly a dent in it's price.
They certainly did way better than SDRL or LINE.

Surprisingly though, LINE makes me $$. But that's coz I waited for the expected dividend cut and doom and gloom to hit before I enter. Unlike XOM that I hold on for a year already.

mine was option. sold a 7 calls (700 shares) that was supposed to expired in a day, haha. which is effectively like saying the price will not increase by too much within 1 day.
then GMCR signed agreement with KRAFT.

price chionged up on next day!!!!

$5000 burnt.

From that day onwards, I dont sell naked calls again. and I never sold anything more than 2.

all my stocks are 200 or less now.

Apple Told by Jury to Pay $532.9 Million in Patent Trial

(Bloomberg) -- Apple Inc. was told to pay $532.9 million after a federal jury said the company’s iTunes software used a Texas company’s patented inventions without permission.

Closely held Smartflash LLC, which claimed that Apple infringed three patents, was seeking $852 million in damages, while Apple said it was worth $4.5 million at most. A federal jury in Tyler, Texas, where Smartflash is based, on Tuesday rejected Apple’s arguments that it didn’t use the inventions and that the patents were invalid.

The dispute is over digital rights management and inventions related to data storage and managing access through payment systems. Smartflash claimed that iTunes used the inventions in applications such as Game Circus LLC’s Coin Dozer and 4 Pics 1 Movie. Apple pledged to appeal.

“Smartflash makes no products, has no employees, creates no jobs, has no U.S. presence, and is exploiting our patent system to seek royalties for technology Apple invented,” said Kristin Huguet, an Apple spokeswoman. “We refused to pay off this company for the ideas our employees spent years innovating and unfortunately we have been left with no choice but to take this fight up through the court system.”

Game Circus and another game developer, KingsIsle Entertainment Inc., maker of Wizard 101 and Grub Guardian, had also been defendants before they were dismissed from the case last year.

In asking for $852 million, Smartflash argued it was entitled to a percentage of sales of Apple’s devices, including the iPhone, iPad and Mac computers, that were used to access iTunes. It claimed that Apple had intentionally infringed the patents, in part because one of its executives had been given a briefing on the technology more than a decade ago.

Apple Arguments
“Apple doesn’t respect Smartflash’s inventions,” the company’s lawyer, John Ward of Ward & Smith in Longview, Texas, told the jury. “Not a single witness could be bothered with reviewing the patent.”

Cupertino, California-based Apple attacked every aspect of Smartflash’s case. It said the patents were invalid and weren’t infringed. It said Smartflash didn’t have complete control of the patents and waited too long to file suit. It also argued that Smartflash’s royalty demands were “excessive and unsupportable.”

“They are not just invalid, they are invalid many times over,” James Batchelder a lawyer at Ropes & Gray in East Palo Alto, California, who is representing Apple, told the jury.

Commercializing Ideas
Smartflash was started in the early 2000s by inventor Patrick Racz in an effort to commercialize his ideas. At one point, Racz was offered less than $200,000 for an interest in one of his patents, according to a court filing.

Racz met with executives of what is now Gemalto SA, including Augustin Farrugia, now a senior director at Apple, according to the complaint. Farrugia, a long-time specialist in digital rights, is Apple’s director of security and designed the national banking system for Singapore in the 1990s.

Smartflash doesn’t make any products and its only business is licensing seven patents issued between 2008 and 2012, which Racz co-invented. Its address is a suite in an office building across the street from the courthouse where the trial was held.

“The jury was very attentive, took good notes and worked very hard,” Ward said after the verdict was announced. “We think they got it right.”

Apple had sales of $18 billion for iTunes, software and services last fiscal year, about 10 percent of the company’s revenue.

Paying Royalties
Another Apple lawyer, Eric Albritton of the Albritton Law Firm in Longview, told the jury there was no reason for Apple to pay royalties on the price of a phone when the dispute is over a single feature.

“It doesn’t make a lick of sense that one person would buy an iPhone and not make calls,” he told the jury. “People do not buy cell phones for the sole purpose of using apps.”

Smartflash also has sued Apple’s chief smartphone rival, Samsung Electronics Co. A trial in that case is to be scheduled now that the Apple trial is over. Google Inc., which also was sued by Smartflash, is trying to have its case transferred to a court in California. Amazon.com Inc. was sued in December, also in Texas.

BTW, i hv a burning question to ask u guys.

Do you guys think a correction is overdue?

I am still heavily long in USA stock market. But like i am getting affected by the many articles saying a correction is overdue, interest rate hikes soon, and the bears among us.....

I am a relative bull, still think the market has at least 1 year or more to go bullish, but can't help thinking more.

What about you guys? And if you are one of those who do think about the coming correction, what would you guys do?
Hold defensive stocks?
hold cash?

(actually i have the same enquires about SGX market, but since i have so little sgx stocks, i think i can adopt a forget-it-mode for SGX stocks)

Disclaimer: I am new to the US stock market...

Like you, I am in for the long haul. Personally not too fussed if prices dip a bit, gives me an opportunity to buy more. I have stocks in my watchlist with a wishlist price...if it corrects, I will just use my spare cash to buy up these stocks. For stocks I already own, if they turn cheap...i will just use the opportunity to average down. I put aside a sum of money each sum to spend on stocks. If there is nothing in my buy range, i just let the money roll over to the next month and wait for the right opportunity to buy.

I hope that makes sense.

Portfolio wise, most of my stocks are growth stock. Maybe if there is a correction, i will probably take that opportunity to buy up some divi stocks? End of the day...depends on price, and how much faith i have in the company that is going for cheap.

haha, there's a reason my major holdings are all in defensive stuff, dividend champions or cash rich stocks.

e.g.
Defensive & dividend champs, JNJ, PEP, MO.
Cash rich, AAPL, BRK.B.

Don't worry, you will watch the show tonight. The show is on every weekday except holidays and other exceptional circumstances.

You can slowly dip in on any small weaknesses.
