Hi I have a internal HDD from way back on my desktop and recently found it lying around somewhere. (It has not been dropped or hit hard before)

Thing is, I no longer have a desktop and thus I bought this USB 2 to IDE cable and tried to connect it to my laptop.

When I connected the power supply and ide to usb to my port and turned on the power, the HDD would have some sort of a sound akin to like when the c4 was detonating in counterstrike for like 20 seconds and then it seems the inside would be running but the laptop does not find any new hardware.

Any kind soul could help me out on this? Do i need to install any sort of a driver or like set it up on device manager?

Please advise

Thank you!

What sort of IDE-to-USB interface, any URL?

You might want to try this. Connect both the power and IDE-to-USB interface to the HDD and turn-on the power to the adapter. Wait a minute or 2 for the drive to power-up and connect the USB cable to your PC. That's how my unit work, ie. need to power-up drive before connecting to PC.

Try restart your laptop with power remains on to IDE HDD provided by the USB2.0 to IDE converter.
