Usb 3.0 disconnection problem

Harddisk always disconnects approx every 5-10 mins while watching videos or transferring files, when plugged into usb 3.0 port.

Does not happen when connected to usb 2.0. Did a search online and found that some users encounter this problem too.

Are there any patches or fixes for this?

You mean an ext HDD right? Sometimes a bad cable/connection or a bad USB port would cause that. Underpowered USB port may cause that too.

Need to determine if its the cable or the port itself. Are you able to try other HDD on the same port?

If the same thing happens across all ports, might be a bad cable.

Try plugging in from the back and see if help? It should draw more power.

check your usb 3.0 header and make sure its connected correctly, try other usb 3 ports

yup its an external 2.5 inch hdd connected to the front usb 3.0 port of the coolermaster N300 tower casing.

Did a search in hwz that a few users also face the same issue with their CM casing. Could be insufficient power to the front usb 3.0 port. Is there any way to increase the power supplied?

If you've alr plugged in all that you can, then I doubt so. You should plug in to the back I/O USB 3.0 to make sure first.

Take a look at post #9377. Maybe you can try to get one piece to check for the correct current or voltage readings on your front USB port. Can always compare the back vs front to further confirm if the front port really draw lesser current..

Try updating the drivers, it helped in my case (Asmedia usb 3.0 chip)
