Hi all,

My home workstation arrangement:
A work laptop with only USB-A ports
A personal laptop with a USB-C port and USB-A ports
An HDMI monitor
USB mouse and USB keyboard

Is there a hub I can use to enable easy switching between my work laptop and personal laptop, while always using the same monitor keyboard and mouse? I tried finding USB-A hubs that have HDMI but it seems like only USB-C hubs support HDMI.

1) Most monitors have dual input either HDMI or Displayport.
2) Get Logitech MK850, can connect up to three devices using
a switch on the keyboard/mouse itself.
Can toggle between devices easily.

USB A is a old USB interface, it's meant for data transfer only.
USB C wise on the other hand, it have evolve from data transfer to display etc.

Thanks! On the first point, do you mean I should use HDMI for one laptop and DisplayPort for another laptop?

Does your work laptop have HDMI out?

I'm using two devices for a similar setup. One hdmi switcher, and one usb kvm to toggle between a desktop and a laptop, sharing one screen, kb and mouse.

Desktop hdmi out connect to this.
Laptop (via a usb-c dongle) hdmi out connect to this.
Then this device hdmi out connect to screen

kb and mouse connect to this.
It has two usb outs, connect one to desktop and one to laptop.

Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, my laptop supports HDMI-out. Unfortunately my table is not big enough to accommodate both my work laptop and my personal laptop at the same time, so an HDMI toggle would not really help. (Due to lack of space, I need to manually replace the laptop and unplug and replug all cables. Was hoping an all-in-one hub makes it quicker, cos then I would only need to unplug/replug one cable instead of 3)
