My 2012 13” MacBook Air battery is dated. It still holds a charge under normal use. But once a USB or ThunderBolt device is attached, battery life decreases dramatically.

Changing a battery is not an option. Thinking of getting an external battery powerbank and hooking up a USB-C to MagSafe 2.

Anyone has success on this?

why not an option? replacement batt on Shopee is only like $60. comes with screw drivers also. I'm planning to get 1 to replace mine soon.

The batt lasts 3 hours under web surfing, word document and WiFi loads. But when I hook up a HDMI or any usb dongle, it lasts 30 min max. I was thinking maybe when high drain peripherals are attached, the batt kaputs.

I personally use a USB-C to MagSafe2 cable that I got from Amazon some time back and it works well. Granted, mine is plugged into a USB-C power adapter but it outputs at 60W and charges it just fine. I guess if you do get a powerbank, would need one with a high enough output.
