USB Extension Cable

I have an old usb cable which I use to connect to USB 2 ports and devices.

Right now, if I connect this extension, one end to a USB 3 port and the other end to a USB 3 HDD, will I get USB 3 speed or constrained by the cable?

Speed will be constrained by the USB2.0 cable. Get a USB3.0 extension cable.
