Newer and higher end phones are switching up USB type C port. Compared to the old micro USB port, are there any advantages or improvements to a user?

Should one specifically choose a phone with USB type C port?

Reversible plug. Support USB 3.1 with display out. Faster theoretical transfer speed.

yup, reversible plug is convenient to older ppl as they usually can't see properly when trying to charge the phone. happened to my father in law phone as the charging port is always spoiled while the phone is okay due to wrong insertion of charging cable.
