How come it looks so underpowered. 2 liter turbo only 181hp and 1.6 tons curb weight?

The price doesn't seem to be that fantastic? Quite comparable to the other 520i's of that year? Mileage is decent though at 72K although again, others are comparable. In fact, the owner only wants to handover the car in mid-May..so it really doesn't seem to me like a too good to be true price le.. :o

Side note, my 1990s car last time produced 200HP, NA haha..ah, the good old days of automotive engineering.. the twin charge on this is probably also both down tuned for longer term reliability and tiny turbos for better FC..

thanks for sharing. 523 (IL6), nonturbo - more reliable than 520i (IL4,turbo)?

Conventional wisdom has it that a naturally aspirated car is more reliable in the long run compared to a forced induction turbo/supercharged car primarily because there's one(usually a few) less part(s) to fail.

However, it also matters what the individual model's known issues are. I'm not as familiar with the F10 so I can't say for sure but there is a lot of info on BMW forums, local and overseas/international. bmw-sg etc.

One thing to note for all used cars and especially conti's is that be aware of the servicing intervals. Many have major servicing due at 100K kms or thereabout depending on the model. Can be very costly especially for contis. If you're getting one that has passed the major servicing interval, make sure it has records that show the parts changed/work done.

For the 2 you've linked, the 2012 one is at 96K mileage, should see if F10 523i has major servicing due at 100K and what that'll cost if not already done. Also be wary of dealers(not all but you can't tell which the bad apples are)..I've heard first hand from friends who worked at a few that they have a guy who'll come down every few weeks with a little laptop/tablet/computer and magically a car that had 110K mileage will have 80K lol Check the paper records of the car if the servicing matches up and was done at regular intervals(every 10K KMS or 6 months, whichever sooner) If there are large gaps in the records or no record at all after a certain mileage, good chance the KMs have been tweaked.
The 2013 one has very low kms, under 10K a year so either was 2nd/3rd etc car or owner was in/out of SG a lot etc. or it may also be tweaked. Have to see condition of the interior(seats etc)/engine but they can do a lot to erase those signs of wear. Paper servicing records are the best to have.

Sorry for the wordy post. :o

3 owners though...hmmm

Whatever number of owners stated, you need to plus one.

i.e stated 3 owners, in actual fact is 4 owners oredi. Cos, when bgt a brand new car, the log card usually stated "0" under the number of car owners, even though you are the first owner of that new car.
This was shared by AD sales person.

How true it is am not sure. No buy brand new car before. :D

Avoid 2010 and 2011 F10 models. 2012 is more reliable. The facelifted version (September 2013 onwards) is even better.

This car is fine although the mileage is a little high for my liking.

Inline 4 twin turbo is great. BMW’s engineering is undeniable.

Have personally driven F10 both pre and post facelift. Now driving G30.

I tend to disagree .... my experience with F10 523 is such a reliable workhorse.

I beg to differ too. My friend bought a resale 2011 F10 520i too nothing much of an issue too.. the only thing he regretted is he told me that time he bought he didn’t know got 528i if not he would have gotten it. Haha anyway he chip up his 520i so hp is about same as 528i. Until now he still feel regretted he did not get the 528i
