i know there's a 5% service fee (on the shipping charges only)... but i'm more shocked by the 5% payforme fee on the retail cost, which means they're earning big commissions man. if I get a $2,000 item they'll earn $100!

Anyone noticed that vpost packages are not sent by local singpost postman, but by their own courier service?

...........
3) They open up your parcel to check the condition of the item. You have to becareful here. My laptop was delivered in 3 boxes: An external shipping box, the next internal one being the laptop box, and the inner most one the accessory box. The parcel came and the external shipping box was intact. The laptop box and accessory box was badly damaged, aka punctured, so much so that the blow tore the laptop and accessory box and smashed the laptop screen from the outside cover. The external box was untouched.
I took a screen save that borderlinx acknowledged that the item was received in good condition, as they always open the parcel up to check. The box was received with the borderlinx sealed tape. Its hard to imagine how DHL can ship the parcel and damage the internals to that extent with the external box intact.......

Yes, they open up the packages. I know because I look at all my boxes when they arrived. Apparantly they open up dont know is to check invoices or they want to see what u are really shipping (in case prohibited items etc)..... then they seal it up. I tear away their tape instead of cutting them up so i can see the original tape are being cut. Not 1 box but i think all my boxes. abt 3-4 of them.

And they are really rough with it. I ordered CDs n books from amazon. The CD came damaged... luckily its the CD cover only. when i checked with the CS, they asked me to check with the insurance co. when i check with them, they say only compensate on COVER in this case. Imagine if i am trying or going to sell that out... how to say. Not even box damaged but the cover paper also torn (where the CD cover case chipped).... all i can say is that DHL seem to handle our things in very rough manner. Luckily CD cover only. I checked things out because I want to know how things wk

and remember if u UNDERDECLARED or claim it as gift, good luck then. I am not sure how u are going to claim it because it seem that the insurance co. takes the amt of what u declared to borderlinx. Then again, if the invoice they requested from u is not the same as what u declared or let borderlinx estimate them to be...... i dont know if one can claim insurance or not.

I have ordered sewing machine (not mine) and the merchant was asked to help paste FRAGILE on the box. Imagine if they arent pasted with those stickers, I wonder what will become of the machine now.

Customer Service
Borderlinx has live chat service, or you can choose to have them call you, and they usually respond quite quickly. Vpost must email, sometimes they take quite a while to reply. Even updating invoices takes a few days for vpost.

You are wrong, you can talk to a live person at Vpost. Just dial 1605. They can clear up lost packages while you wait on the line. I lost several tee shirts brought from Ebay, and Vpost located them for me promptly. Vpost sevice is the best of the lot.

Im NV using CGW again. Even though supposedly their service is better now. Last time, they sent my items to someone else's address! Nowadays I use Tarazz. 100times more convenient, shipping is cheaper n better service... vpost only when I got no choice.

Tarazz, weird website that doesn't even have any shipping calculator to tell you an estimate of how much a shipping cost will be before trying out their service. At least Borderlinx & vpost has a calculator for you to roughly calculate the shipping cost before you decide whether you want to sign up with them. Even though the calculator is not exact but at least it give you a gauge of the shipping. With Tarazz, one doesn't even know how is shipping is calculated.

hey, for items forwarding outside US,Viaddress is the best . I have been using them since many years. Their rates are much lower than Bongous, Vpost, Borderlinx .
I have had purchased several items online and shipped them to India via viaddress service only and the most important thing is, items are always received in perfect conditions.
2 years ago i had to buy a necklace for my mom and the liked one wasn't available here. so i bought it from eBay and shipped them through viaddreess. Necklace was reached in 3 days. they are really fast, reliable and trustworthy.
i would say, for international customers, it is must to have them. here is the link.
viaddress dot com
Also they have live chat support, so if you need any assistance, they are always ready to answer your queries.

WARNING

For users wanting to ship from US/Europe/Japan through vPOST, please read this and be warned. I ordered an electronic item from vPOST shopping link (which brought me to a shopping page linked to amazon mercharts pages). The item that I bought was to be shipped via vPOST. Today I received an email from them stating the following. I guess some policies have changed for the worse, so be warned........
___________________________

Dear Sir/Mdm,

Item concerned: Digital Camera (contains battery)

We regret to inform you that your order consists of one or more of the
following: wine or alcoholic beverages/battery/perfume/paints/spray/lithium
battery
which is categorized under prohibited items. We regret we are unable to
process this invoice. Please arrange with your merchant not to deliver your
item to the vPOST shipping address.

If your merchant has already forwarded your package, we can assist to make
arrangement for the package to be returned to sender or forward it to another
US address upon receiving. Please note that for returning or forwarding of
such packages, an administrative fee of S$10 per package is chargeable and you will also be required to pay for the return or forwarding postage.
Alternatively, you may arrange with your sender / merchant to pickup the
package from the vPOST shipping address. You may follow up with the seller /
merchant for refund after the package is returned.
___________________________

Damn! Kena pwded by vPOST. First they enticed me with a shipping link at their website to shop for items from US merchants. Then they allowed me to proceed with the transaction to buy a 'prohibited item', then after amazon.com merchant posted the item, vPOST tells you to return your item for a shipping fee + admin fee.

Please be warned or be pwded!

Stay far away from vPOST!

:s22: because their site can only detect weight or things but not the prohibited items?

recently i was told its okay to buy things with battery (irobot) as long as they are packed in the same shipment. If they come in 2 package (1 is irobot another is battery) then they will return the battery.

Didnt know that camera battery is more dangerous to be prohibited

Tarazz
seem to me that they convert everything to SGD, including shipping. pricing quite exp? :s11:

A Disaster in Fact, Please Read my vPost Story

It has gotten so bad that I decided to write a post about it, and so many incompetencies with the vPost system that the post has gotten so long! Read it through my link.

I'm a noob in this area and hoping that someone could clear my doubt.

I'm interested in a particular item from amazon but the item is only to be shipped within US. So I registered myself with Borderlinx and a US address will be provided to me. I made the order with amazon with the provided US address and BOrderlinx will arrange to have the item shipped to mt local address, right?
