I have a spare TV sitting in my room for quite some time already and as I don't really watch much TV, I've decided to use it as my 2nd screen when the need arises.

What solutions are there to link my pc with the TV wirelessly to use as a 2nd screen (not screen mirroring).

Reason for wanting wireless: TV is quite far away from pc.

Thanks!

Edit: TV is not a smart TV. And I think my desktop doesn't have Wifi, so I will have to purchase a Wifi card, which is recommended?

install splashtop on android and windows PC. The android will connect to TV.

Once you can see your windows desktop on TV, press windows + P and select extended.

On your android tablet change to second monitor output

I think you can use MiraCast to "cast" your PC onto the screen

But if I cast the screen, I won't be able to watch videos on one screen and play games on the other at the same time right? At least that's what I understand from it.

... You wanted wireless extended desktop and I gave you the solution. No wifi card required as long as both in same network

Other ways:
1) watch video on phone
2) Put tv nearer and use hdmi
3) Buy another monitor
4) Create network drive from your PC folder, access it on ANY DEVICES that u can connect to your dumb tv
5) Play game in windowed mode and play the video on a small window beside it

Unless his TV also supports any wireless capability, he'll need to connect something into the TV in order to cast wirelessly from PC/tablet. Meanwhile, Intel Wireless-AC 7260 is capable of Intel WiDi and Miracast.

Still wouldn't solve TS' issue... TS wants to use a TV that is far away from the PC, as a wireless 2nd screen...

troublesome if he doesn't want this/that.
dun see a point why cannot run a cable.
i run a hdmi cable 20m long for 2nd screen, so simple. Lol

There are 5m long HDMI cable & I am pretty sure it works with my PC & TV. Isn'5 5m long enough? How big a room you have? IF not try those heavy duty 10m or 15m long HDMI cables. Again, how big a room you have?

sometime its not about the length of the cable ... its how to conceal them, compromise with renovation ID and even safety reasons.... else everything can use cable liao... ;)

Everyone has different needs/requirements ma, usually with an 'ideal' solution in their minds before they know the cost. Running lan cable also very simple, but some ppl still go for wifi/powerline/etc.

Still, it's good to point out the simpler solutions available. If the 'perfect' solution costs $$$, at least TS got options to go for if he wants to compromise.
