Various Regional Rail Passes

Hi need to make sure I got this right.

For JR Sanyo Sanin Area Pass, it is inclusive of reserved seats and limited express charges, right?

but from wat i understand from the website, u can use the Sanin Okayama pass on non-reserved seat on ltd express train without paying anything.
but if u want to take reserve seats, u need to pay reserve seat fee.


e.g. Tottori to Matsue
for reserved seat:
2270yen for normal fare, 2550yen for reserved seat fee
so if u want to take reserved seat, u need to pay additional 2550yen.
for unreserved seat:
2270yen for normal fare, 1300yen for unreserved seat fee
u dun need to pay anything if using the pass. not even the 1300yen

That's right. You only have to pay the surcharge (which is the limited express surcharge) if you want to reserve a seat using the JR Sanin-Okayama Pass.

Otherwise you don't have to pay any other surcharges if you are not reserving any seats.

from my experience travelling in that region, there's virtually no need to reserve train tickets for Shinkansen or Limited Express.
