Brand new. I can go SLS and get:D

Id say just bring your old rig to Sim Lim shop and get them to upgrade there.

TradePac & Dynacore has complete rigs for less than $500. Since you will be reusing some parts, can channel the savings to get extra RAM & slightly better gfx card maybe?

Hi Soccer Ball,

For your budget of around $200, I would recommend the AMD Athlon 3000G if you only use it for simple tasks (internet browsing, office). All prices from PC Themes at Sim Lim Square.

(1) CPU & Motherboard:

AMD Athlon 3000G & Gigabyte GA B450M-DS3H = $184

(2) RAM: Crucial DDR4 2666Mhz CL19 (8GB x 1 Pc) = $55

Total = $239

The motherboard is quite future proof as it will allow you to upgrade to the next generation 4000 series Ryzen CPU when it launches. It will also allow you to do some overclocking for the CPU and RAM in the future.

If you have slightly more budget and you plan to do some light gaming, then
change the RAM to Dual Channel RAM as it gives better and smoother framerates in games.

*Optional

(3) RAM : G.SKill Ripjaws V 2666Mhz CL15 8GB (4GB x 2 Pcs) = $79

if you prefer Intel solution, you get

Intel G5420+ASRock H310CM-HDV combo for $168
Along with a Crucial/Kingston/Klevv DDR4 2666Mhz 8GB stick for $60
For a total of $228

You can reuse your case, ur PSU and SSD.

*Prices are based off Dynacore's pricelist.

For the RAM, i noticed a number of pple recommend the 2666Mhz and not higher like 2999Mhz/3200Mhz. Is it the sweet spot for price-performance ratio?

nah, because 2666Mhz is the highest speed the low end mobo can support and his usage is pretty basic until there is no diff if he uses a 2666 or a 3200Mhz.

Just to add on, if TS doesn't want to do any overclocking, can swap the motherboard to A320. It will still be able to support future Ryzen 4000 CPUs. Prices from PC Themes.

(1) AMD Athlon 3000G & MSI A320M-A Pro = $167
(2) Crucial 2666MHz DDR4 RAM (8GB x 1 pc) = $55

Total = $222

Okay. You mean the Athlon 3000G can support 2666Mhz right? The mobo can overclock to 3600Mhz.
