VGA card swap when buying?

Asked my bro to go buy a vga card (Gigabyte 7790 2gb radeon card) at sim lim. Instead he brought home a Gigabyte R7 260x 2gb OC card. Was told by shop that this card is equivalent to gigabyte 7790. So my qns is..

1) invoice stated as gigabyte 7790. Any problems when doing rma later on?

2) any performance difference in the two cards?

I gotta explain to my less technically inclined friend on why there is a change in vga card. To him, bigger number, the better it is.

1) It depends how kind the distributor is. If you can explain why the invoice is like that they should be able to close one eye. But you should have asked your bro to double check the invoice in the first place.

2) Shop is right. It's just a rebranded name. Performance is similar.

Depends how much he paid for it eh. Last I checked the Gigabyte 1GB version HD7790 was $173? So if less than $190-200 still ok bah.

What shop is this? If receipt states 7790 and you present a 260x, there will surely be problems when RMAing. I mean what are you going to explain? They are different products, rebranded or not.

Yes swiftbladez is right. What shop is it? Please go back and have them correct the invoice to prevent misunderstandings when claiming warranty in the future.
