I was quoted these prices for a cruise with Alova Gold Cruise


- Standard tour : 50 USD/pax ( No Ac on boat, basic and small food, small boat - low quality)

- Superior tour : 70 USD/pax ( better boat with Ac, better food) - highly recommend

- Deluxe tour 1: 110USD/pax ( big boat with Ac and bigger room, delicious food, more activities, cooking class included) - highly recommend


May I know if these prices are reasonable? I never knew there were rooms without aircon - sounds terrible with the current weather!

The truth is i think the food its really better if you go for the higher packages. Boats are all the same, maybe differ a bit by size but tts not going to affect you.

2d1n was 40USD (June 2011) [include a cave visit, kayaking, AC room, decent but simple food, transport to and fro]

book a tour in hanoi. all tours leave in the morning. takes around 3 hrs to reach halong city from hanoi.

any reputable tour agency to recommend?

reputation wise. its only sinhtourist

but does not mean that other agencies are not good. they do provide similar service at a lower rate.

compare the rates around before choosing one that you are comfortable with.

Hello Guys,

I'm planning to have a sole trip Backpacker to Vietnam in end of July/August (26/7 - 04/08)+10days.

My main focus would be relax on the beach
HCMC/3day > PhuQuoc Island/2day > NhaTrang/3day > HCMC/2day

Or any nice itinerary to share?
What are the must dos, must eats, must sees?
Is this a good time to go to Vietnam?

When i went in Nov, i changed SIN->USD then in Vietnam, i changed USD->VND, think rates is better. Wonder if any of you do that too?

Singapore change convenient ma. It's after comparison, i find USD to VND better than SGD to VND. Of course i did not purposely sic to go hunt money changer, just on way, pass by then change lor.

5 days enough time to go vung tau and phan thiet liao.

HCMC nearby got cu chi tunnel, cao dai temple @ tay ninh province, museum, ben thanh market, cholon chinatown, suoi tien theme park, dai nam theme park, water puppet.

vungtau not so touristy. got one jesus statue also.

Not every hawker or stallholder on the street will accept the USD, but most tourist businesses do, and since many return your change in VND, eventually you will have that too.

is it better to book a 1/2 day trip to cu chi tunnel from Sinhtourist or just get a cab and go by urself?

How many are you? It is better to book the trip with Sinhtourist or other agency at Phan Ngu Lao. Usually they pool their clientele anyway.

USD - generally for tour/hotel payment
VND - for local transport and food
