Alternative u can go mekong delta.. also Benh Thanh market is very diff from the day time n nite time.. at nite.. alot of road side store open.. (Pls try the bbq foods! damn nice n cheap!!)

Hi so how do you suggest for people to travel if they need to move from HCMC to Dalat?

I nv buy viet sim card b4. i just call back using SG no. never use the 019 too as I was told by Singtel ppl tat it is cheaper to just call as per norm.

Oh... Okays. Thanks for the information freedomx! Remember to tell me how is it k? Coz my sis intend to go there alone (take the bus to the hotel at district 1) but she is worried that it may be dangerous for a gal to take public transport alone in HCM city.:s13:

Hi Techadd, no worries. I will keep a lookout for other hotels/hostels ba. Do you happen to have other not bad recommendations, abit on the budget side (even 7 in a room hostel kind also can). Hehe.:s8:

Wow, so cheap? I read online most taxi cost 120000 to 150000. Which taxi u took? Immediately outside the airport? U got buy the taxi voucher in the airport?

If you come to Vietnam the first time, don't take bus. The bus system is not so good to rely on for newcomer.

About airport taxi, there are airport taxi and city taxi. In Vietnam, only airport taxis are permitted to wait for customers in the waiting line, and they have bad reputation of cheating customers buy altering taxi meter. If it takes 50,000 vnd to go to the city center by normal taxi, it take 3/2 or double that amount using airport taxi.

To catch a city taxi, just when you get out of the custom gate, you will see a row of taxis infront of you. They are airport taxi. Don't be stopped by the airport taxis' drivers, cross the street to the middle, there is another row of taxis, less crowded, normally 2 cars per company (only two cars per company are allowed to park there). You can take any taxi in this row. For peace of mind, take yellow taxi (which is called Vinataxi, tel 8111111) or taxi with tel 8272727.

you can do that, however, once you get out of the custom, in that messly crowded place, it's harder to find a way go up to the next level.
in my method, all you need is to walk strait, bypass the airport driver, cross the street (which is 5 meters wide) and catch a taxi there.

crazy...just turn right and go all the way to the left side of the bldg. there is a lift and another escalator that is within easy access. very very easy. trust me. its just at the corner of the left side of the bldg.

spent a super rushed day in HCM yesterday. haha.

btw, anybody who wants to buy in big bulk of clothing..can try Anh Dong Mall. or alternatively saigon sq as per say here.

btw, techadd, the canh is canh nghieu. very very nice. told by my wife that it originates from hanoi. a hanoi specialty
