Many ppl underestimate the vastness of Vietnam lol. The distance and difference between the northernmost city and southernmost city in Vietnam is as much as that between Beijing and guangzhou

Yup, to put in perspective...it's longer than Singapore to HCMC. The country is that long...hence HSR not feasible as there is no major cities between HCMC and Hanoi. :(

There are lots of major cities (also tourist destinations) between HCMC and Hanoi, such as Vung Tau, Mui Ne, Dalat, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Hoi An, Da Nang, Hue, Phong Nha/Son Doong Cave, and Vinh.

Of course, but not big enough or with critical mass to justify for HSR still. For HSR, the std numbers they look at are different from what we perceived. Preferably every major stop is about 150 to 300km.

australia nt much things to shop in my opinion ...
asean countries more things and is cheaper ...

It is not only about the shopping. But nightlife, scenery (mountains ,lakes , countryside ,villages), culture ,history ,food, customs , language.

This kind of diversity can only be found in Europe and Asia.

US, Canada, Australia where got such thing?

Hcm to nha trang, take open bus the best option? Or train? I want it cheap. So plane is out
one of the railway bridges have collapsed
so if you take the train, they will transfer you via bus to bypass that bridge, which would take more time
if you want to avoid the hassle, wait until they finish building a new railway bridge which would take at least half a year
