Sydney and Melbourne are ok. they are places where you visit once liao and you don't feel like going back.scenery in australia is nothing compared to those in china and europe.

Agreed. Prices in Australia is insanely expensive. For the price I rather visit Swiss but both my aged parents have been hinting of wanting to visit Oz, thus the trip in December. Anyways for yourself, which country is your favourite destination?

Am heading there as well, looking at Glory Legend cruise for mid-range. I know it is cheaper to buy on the ground, but this is my first time there and I'm afraid I'll get lost/scammed so am gonna get online I guess. Any suggestions are appreciated

Sorry to break your bubble. By buying online, you've already walked into the biggest scam you'll ever have for your vietnam trip. You'll be lucky to have a "free transfer" included in that $160 else they would "charge" an additional $20 for what was already supposed to be free. If possible, contact the operator directly or cancel for refund. USD160 is a hell lot of money to pay for 2d1n.

Even for train tickets, I was quoted USD12 by an agency but buying from the ticket office directly? USD4 with change to buy a 1.5L water.

SIA and budget airlines always have promo to hcm and bkk but not to hanoi. airfare to hanoi always costs at least $400.

Because those places are super touristy. I barely met any asian tourists in Hanoi, even when I do, they are backpackers. A pity really, Hanoi is a super charming city but at the same time, its good because we don't have flocks and flocks of tourists destroying Hanoi.

Hmm actually I am quoted USD100 (think you mistook the 160 for smth else) but what do you think about this price for that glory cruise? got hear before one? i haven't paid yet.

I'm going hanoi 1 day before the cruise trip, you think it's possible to get 1 day before? afraid there'll be no stock too. otherwise i think i'll go down to get instead of online. thanks

The last time i went hanoi was during national day some years back. took sq and the flight was like less than 20% full. not many budget airlines fly there. i think only tiger has direct flights to hanoi.

family trip then bo bian. december is summer+holiday season in australia so prices will be more expensive. best is hire a car and explore the countryside.

i like to visit many countries with nice sceneries so it would be NZ, N. Vietnam like sapa, halong bay, certain parts in China, Japan. If i want to nua in affordable 5 star hotel then it would be kl, penang, bangkok.

Me too...really hope to travel to many places and countries....esp China, haven't covered enough...it's so big. Australia, Europe, Vietnam (my 2nd home country), japan, NZ etc. Even Msia is many places to go to for short term relax. Sigh, time is so limited.

Very nice, regret not staying in Hanoi longer. I've spent 5 days in Saigon just doing the touristy stuffs and chilling. Heading back there again once im done with Dalat. Any suggestions on where else to go?

no didn't go down. actually i didn't know that's a sandbank lolz
with all the farming activities, i thought it's not nice to intrude anyway. anything interesting?

i enjoyed the motorcycle / bicycle "stunts" on the stairway as they go up/down to the sandbank to/from the bridge

the other end is worlds apart, looks like rich folks residential zone

did you go down and walk on the sandbank?

if you can ride motorcycles, they may like to try the northern loops like Ha Giang. i seen the photos, very beautiful & still not touristy yet. can't advise as i haven't done it myself, but you should be able to google these motorcycle tours easily
