which teleco sim card will you all recommend for 6N in Hanoi?
Need only for data usage

Vinaphone is pretty good, some guy I met had good reception in the most obscure location.

But word of advice, do not get from the airport, everything is a rip off there from sim card to taxi. Besides, the person would probably ask you how long you are staying then proceed to recommend you the highest tier card regardless of your stay duration.

It goes for about 300k or $19sgd but you can get for less than 100k in the city.

I bot a vinaphone sim card from a local market. The sim card cost 70k and can only be used for calls and SMS. So I bought a 20k top up and activated the D7 plan. Gave me 1.2gb of high speed 3g data everyday. More than enough to use. Everyday I used only 100mb.

Hcm airport ok to buy. Vinaphone is located at the last shop on your left before u exit the terminal. 130k can buy 1.5gb with call for 1 month.

If u r buying at hanoi airport, then it's ripoff as they tend to sell you more ex plan. Min is vnd500k. So hanoi best to buy outside airport.

hello, i'm back.
I recomment you buy Mobifone sim card, 3G in VN is very weak, you can join wifi everywhere, and it's free (exl the mountain, sea, beach, on the street...).
More information, you can search google : dang ky 3G mobifone (you can choose the package, i recomment you buy MIU120 for 1.5GB data, and 50K for sim-card = total : 170k.
Not use vinaphone, or viettel, because fee not cheap.
You really want to visit Phuc Long coffee shop in SG :) It's very good well, better than Starbuck :)

any recommendation on taxi in Hanoi?
just flag off with meter or using uber or grabtaxi?

I used uber. I like being able to key in the destination (using fare estimate) as I don't trust myself being able to properly communicate where I wanna go. plus the drivers in Vietnam would drive off while asking me the destination which I feel is very unsafe to prolong the conversation. the trips were extremely cheap (some under a dollar) so I made it a point to give them a tip because sometimes they took a while to find me.

in that case, you should use Grab (GrabCar or GrabBike, NOT GrabTaxi)

if the Uber driver wants to prolong the journey, you will need to pay extra to Uber because it is calculated based on real distance travelled + time travelled

for Grab, you can know the price beforehand, it is already set before you book, so it doesn't matter which direction the driver goes
