Stay in district 1.. usually people will choose Ben Thanh area or backpackers street Pham Ngu Lao.
Early morning you can visit the Ben Thanh market, or go have coffee in the cafes. Or check out the D5 chinatown market.

since viet is 1 hr behind, reach liao is like still 7+am . Actually by the time plane parking and clear custom maybe before 8.30am. Fast food just outside airport exit. Can have a bite, watch the people and think of next move.

Ben thanh market... Hmmmm... Eye see hand no touch. Wait for night market. You may also see they mrt construction or maybe about to complete.

D5 so called chinatown is not really very chinese. The hotel near there I remember is Windsor. There is a andong center or something. Wholesale stuff. I always go to a dim sum shop nearby when in hcm.

taxi ... take mah ling or vinasun ... about $9.60 sgd ... 25 - 35 minutes

d1 near ben thanh market is the location most tourists would stay at .
hotel there not expensive. u can get a decent 3* hotel about 30+ onwards.
most 3* hotels have less than 60 rooms ...
most hotels "enlarged" their room size. for example 24m2 may just be 18 to 20m2 ... stayed more than 12 hotels in hcm before, almost all r lidat.

for sim card, you can get at the airport, after immigration, price is about 120vnd for 5gb the last time went there ...

hotel, some of the better ones in my opinion:
vien dong, le duy, lan lan, lavender, elios, alagon , etc those r 3* hotels .

There alot of pick pocketing incident ? read somewhere last time ...
hence didnt get to go there ...
d1 cab there how much ? 150k vnd ?

so far never Kena any pickpockets. Just ownself be careful.

Can't remember the cab fare. Don't think need that much. 150k is almost airport to d1

After that go watch movie

By then it's already noon, go for lunch, do a bit of shopping at supermarket... 2pm head back to hotel check in...

Get some sleep....
Evening time 6pm head out again

wah 30+ ish good price.
I always end up like 70-80 if very near to ben thanh like A&EM, Avanti, sunflower...

the hotel u listed A & EM usually 70+ , they r 3.5* , hence the higher price
usually my budget is about 50+ per nite for two with breakfast ...

Ben than market to windsor plaza hotel is 3.7kg , 11min

maybe 50% to 70% of the price ... perhaps 100k to 120k ?
