Mr Tech,

Just checking with you, Im thinking of backpacking from North to South VN, 1 week or 2 weeks trip depending on my schedule sometime during Tet next year.

Possible to cove at least Hanoi (inc Halong Bay) downwards to Danang or so in a week? Also, able to help book accomodations aye? Any ideas to where and wehat I can cover in 1 to 2 weeks tops?

Thanks :)

Yup, possible to cover North - Central, but it would be a very rush with you spending a day in Danang/Hue/Hoi An, with 2days in Hanoi, and 2 days in Halong. (Note:calculations is based on travel time as well)

Tet period is a good period of travel as there will be lesser traffics on the road due to the exodus of city folks going back to their hometown, however Tet period is the most expensive period of travel as well where accommodations are scarce and expensive, coupled with local agents charging higher fees for land and tour arrangements (pay extra to workers/staffs for working on Tet).

Tet Period in HCM is nice also where they have the Annual Flower Festival in the City Central.. :D

I had a great trip to HCMC, the hotel was great and I love coop mart, this sounds ridiculous but I bought lots of toothbrushes (colgate only S$1 for 2), milk (40 cents for a pack of four) and numerous other snacks. The vinacafe black coffee was really good.

Sorry techadd, itinerary was packed so no time to meet, next time perhaps. My only regret not getting the a & f t-shirts. They wanted S$15 for it but i heard the locals can get it for S$9.

Thanks pal. Let me firm things up on my end again with my friends, tentatively I have 3 including me, searching for 1 more guy to come along. Will revert back to U once confirmed for hotel booking.

Yes, aiming to go Tet as quieter hopefully :D

Hi hi techadd! Sorry sorry for being so troublesome,

We noticed upon booking, we're stuck with the 18th night! You got any recommendations?

Cause we're going with a schedule like this:
1 DAY : HCMC - Dalat, NIGHT : Dalat
2 DAY : Dalat - Nha Trang, NIGHT : Nha Trang
3 DAY : Nha Trang, NIGHT : Nha Trang
4 DAY : Nha Trang - HCMC NIGHT : ???
5 to 7 : HCMC (Period I booked with you)

I was checking the rails then I noticed a timing for Nha Trang-Saigon is from 1318HR-2045HR
What would you guys recommend?
1. We extend more time to see Dalat
2. We book an extra night at Elios
3. Other suggestions?

an additional night in Dalat is better since you are arriving in night and then leaving the next day which is quite a rush without exploring much of dalat.

Hey hey again,

1. Is it easy to grab transport; bus or whatever the moment we touch down at HCMC to Dalat? Or does that have to be prearranged?

2. What hotels are recommended at Dalat/Nha Trang that is around the same price range?

3. Hotels allow checking in in the evening right?
