just back from HCMC after a 4D3N trip,
overall an enjoyable experience save for the taxi drivers there, think all of them never fail to pull a fast one over the passengers!!
and Elios Hotel where me and my gf stayed was really great... we were actually impressed with the breakfast!

Genuine NorthFace are sold in Shopping Centers and Departmental Stores , whether its cheaper than Singapore or not, i'm not so sure.. Nike shoes are made in Vietnam as well and some of their models are not cheap either..:s22::s22:

Hi Techadd,

U know which shopping centres sells north face products ie backpacks/jackets? Does saigon sq has it?

Juz got bck from HCM after an xtremely eventful trip i muz say, however i feel the compelling urge to commend Techadd for his extremely gd service & care for my frens during our stay there.

1stly, Elios Htl is an excellent choice, for itz location, cleanliness & price. 1 of the more impressive htls in the city, small as it may look, however their service is very gd, the staff all try their best to perfect service wif a smile, the rms are extremely clean/new & breakfast is gd too! They've got variety & except for the fact tt they dun really top-up the food after a certain time or once they run out, breakfast is fine. :) If not, Pho24 is juz downstairs a coupla steps away. :s13:

2ndly, Techadd is definitely a man of great, and i emphasize, great patience. Upon arrival, my grp was held up @ the airport for more than 1.5hrs due to some visa application hiccups my overseas frens faced (Europe & US passports) @ Immigration. However, Techadd was, as promised still waiting there patiently when we managed to, finally, clear Immigration.

3rdly, there was a most unfortunate emergency on the very 1st nite as my fren's infant fell very ill & had to be rushed to hosp in the wee hrs of the morning. They went to 2 diff hosps by themselves but were extremely shocked @ the condition thus upon Techadd's advice, rushed to a more appropriate children's hosp. Techadd also, at the same time rushed down tog wif his mom, even though it was 2am+ in the morning to assist my frens @ the hosp as they did not speak Vietnamese.

PS: Techadd, my sincere apologies cos im sure tt 1st nite, none of us had a gd slp due to the events tt happened. Relay my apologies/thanks to ur mom as well. :)

4thly, Techadd never failed to chck & make sure we were alrite as it was a whole series of events that happened all the way from changing/upgrading rooms(upon arrival), to rushing to hospital in the wee hrs of the morning, to changing flight schedules(my frens had to cut short the entire trip to rush back to SG for more advanced medical attention), to ensuring the rest of us(those who stayed on) were ok & itinerary went on as scheduled, to hearin' our opinion/feedback abt his staff who brought us for a tour etc.

Last but not least, once again I salute Techadd for his never-ending patience & the service he provided, always wif a willing smile as well. :) And of cos, the extreme great help that he had been during our stay there. On behalf of my European frens as well, i wld like to relay my heartfelt thanks. Ur mom & urself have really impressed us. Thanks again Techadd. :)

Up for Techadd! :s12:

http://www.travelfish.org/board/post/vietnam/3396_Cu-Chi-Tunnels---don-t-do-it/0

Cu Chi Tunnel is not "real" as stated.......is it really worth going or a waste of time?

I think the guide probably meant to say that the tunnel was actually 'modified' to accommodate the tourists which is not a hidden fact as its published openly on all tourists leaflets. If it was left in the original state, it would virtually be a test of mind and strength to even crawl through 10meters of the actual original tunnel. If u want to know know how an actual tunnel feels like, inform the guide to bring you 2 floors down... but do get prepared to become overwhelmed by its damp air, stuffiness and most of all , pitch darkness..:s13:

Itz betta to change ur $$ in Vietnam itself as compared to SG as SG moneychangers dont give a gd rate for VND. Best to change @ the airports upon arrival, a whole stretch of $$ changers for u to choose/compare rates before u set off. :)
