I brought almost 3000 Sgd worth of Paypal and you promise to transfer within 24 hr..

Its been 4 days and i did not receive anything, not even the refund you promise..

Did not pick up my call or reply my email.. Going to report to the authority first thing tomorrow..

my rate confirm better then gold smith.. heheheh.. if u are not local u go gold smith maybe they not give u best rate. u can compare my rate and gold smith rate hehe.

One word of advice. Please do not purchase paypal funds from another party or do so at your own risk. I'd rather trust an AUTHORISED MONEY CHANGER at decent rates...

Current rate is 13500 dong, or between 12500 and 13000 dong to the SGD at the money changers in hcmc.

For those in the city, you may want to change abit @ the airport (around $50 worth) for tpt, then the rest @ the usual places around ben thanh. those more familiar will know where to get better rates but IMO, not worth to go scouting just to save a few $$$.

Been frequenting HCMC for quite a while and will be there 18th to 20th June 2010 again. LOL

was also approached by few ppl online b4, saying they have better rates, can meet in hcmc to change $....true, the rates are better, but firstly, you dunno them at all.....secondly, they could give u fake or old notes without you knowing if never check properly....

n in china, cases were reported whereby business meetings / deals / transactions etc were arranged beforehand in a location, ( victim brought amt of cash etc )....then victim will be robbed, coz you are already a known target with cash.......you can never be too careful....

There are also cases happening in Ho Chi Minh where unsuspecting tourists were lured to remote locations and robbed.

Thats why i recommend public places for those unfamiliar with the territory!

I have actually booked open bus tickets that heads to the major tourist places, but decided to give it a miss and go with an easy rider. Great views and many interesting stuff to see, plus he tells you lots of anecdotes about the country.

I'm now on day 2 of my 5 day ride to Hoi An, after which I will slowly make my way up to Hanoi.

You can book an open bus ticket 1 day before the date you want to go to Dalat. Just go to this shop called 'Sinh Tourist' (formally Sinh Cafe but changed name). Buses leave daily at 730, and arrive in Dalat about 4. Due to some mishap along the way mine only reached about 7 though. The bus costs 100k VND.

Easy Riders are a group of bikers who hang out in this cafe called Peace Cafe in Dalat. You can recognise them by their blue and red jackets with the words 'EASY RIDER' behind. If you do enough walking around dalat they will probably hunt you down or you can just hang around at Peace Cafe. They can offer to take you to almost anywhere within Vietnam at an average rate of between $65 - $70/day. Tie down with them whether hotel is included.

Pretty steep but I would say it's worth it. If you travel in a group its more fun. I lone ranger haha. Hope this helps!

Yeah, it's rush and unable to go to some other places. Might skip dalat, still deciding.

Nope, within Vietnam haha. If you have the money they will take you on an 'off-the-beaten-track' from Dalat all the way to Hanoi, stopping at hotels along the way with you. Then next morning continue to other places.

They have a 4d3n tour that takes you from Saigon - Dalat - Saigon. This could be what you are looking for.

easy riders can be found at peace cafe...TM brothers cafe is a tour agency.

easy riders are like private tour guides on bikes....the route they take is more / less same as tour grps?...i assume this coz i see them at various spots the tour group stopped as well....

Haha that's just the tip of the iceberg bro. I'm in Hoi An after 5 days on the road from Dalat. While leaving Dalat they stopped at the major tourist places for kicks, since it's along the way. But once we hit the road you don't see the places they take you to. I didn't see any tourists at Lak Lake and most of the countryside where the views were splendid. We also hit the HCM trail on the western central highlands to Ngok Linh with an altitude of 2600m. Surprisingly it wasn't freezing like Sapa though. These were the best 5 days of my time in Vietnam off the beaten track. Now that I'm in Hoi An on the beaten Sinh Cafe open bus routes again, I really missed the time I spent with my rider.

To anyone wanting to visit Vietnam, I highly recommend you to contact Xuan (xuaneasyrider@yahoo.com). Say Michael referred you and ask for a good rate. If you simply hit the major cities and open bus routes stops, you haven't been to Vietnam. It will be very steep to do North - South or vice versa all the way from Saigon - Hanoi as it takes about 20 days. 5 days from Dalat to Hoi An is enough. If you liked the ride and have spare cash later on, he can go on further to Hue and take you go see Hamburger Hill (if you are into war and history stuff).

From Hoi An you can continue north to Hue and then Hanoi by open bus. Or bus to Hue and then take a train to Hanoi. The train would be quite an experience.

There are about 60 easy riders at any one time spread throughout Vietnam but their 'base' is in Dalat. The 'original' easy riders hang out at Peace Cafe. They were recommended by Lonely Planet and due to their popularity many people are now masquerading as an 'Easy Rider'.
