Hi,

Anyone know if the tour has any hidden charges? I heard from a friend that there will be a lot of "optional choices". Eg: u will be suggested to take a speed boat back at an additonal cost..the so called lunch-provided is miserable hence u've got no choice but to order more food... etc

i am taking the Mekong river tour with the hotel.

Hope to hear more information before i go this week! thanks

you just need to ask are meals included or excluded, some day tours requires you to settle own lunch, others include in the price.

be it ho chi minh or hanoi, food provided during tours are good enough. sometimes tables are shared with strangers in same tour group.

of coz, optional extras like snorkling, kayaking have to pay more.....see what is in the itinery of the tour, ask if there are extras to pay like meals, tickets etc, then should be ok.

I'm going in December. Anyone finding difficulty in language? Like in Thailand everybody can speak English well, so the communication no longer is a problem...

if you're planning to hang around the city central, you shouldnt have any problem going around since they are english speaking tourism guides around the city that gives info to tourists or anyone that asks them.

I just came back from HCMC..

The people there don't understand english, but you can still get by with some "sign language" and a calculator.

Cu chi tour was great ! Mekong delta tour, just a been there done that =:p.

Just a guideline for you:

I booked the tour with the hotel, pick up at hotel (save the hassle): 1 day Mekong delta tour USD 16 and ½ day Cu chi tunnel tour (inclusive of entrance) USD 15.

I heard that changing S$ to VN Dong @ Hanoi goldsmiths in city area has better rate.
True?

banks do not change to other currencies, eg: sgd to usd, only to dong.
not easy to find goldsmith shop for a tourist...have to walk quite a fair bit to search....

might as well change all you want at airport upon arrival. hotel can change with you too but rates are round down to nearest ten thousands, eg: 1 to 11K, 13K, 15K etc.
