Just thought I'd share my experiences with ViewQwest so far:

Download and upload speeds are normal for the most part but the unresolved latency issues are really upsetting. The lacklustre customer service is probably also worthy of note - was promised several times that they'd call to update me on the situation but I never received a single one.

On a more positive note though, I was promised a full waiver of all early termination fees if the issue wasn't resolved by the 14th of July.

Hope it won't have to come to that though. Most other ISP's have no problem with this particular game, so why is ViewQwest having such a hard time with it? Will keep this post updated. Hopefully, I'll have some good news by then!

I saw in viewquest facebook tat they got sell seperate router. Cost $199 for general public and $175 for viewquest customers. Seems good. But the cost is high

Hi neilangierof,

Could you PM me your NRIC and address? Also if possible please let me know a brief description of the issue, and if there's more than one, i'll get the relevant department to contact you ASAP.

Hi nic,

To reduce latency in online games (reduce ping) do you recommend reducing the MTU size from 1500 to a lower value?

Hi shadey,

Hmm no we don't recommend reducing the MTU size.

Instead if you're experiencing consistently high latency in a game, please send the game name and server IP address to our noc (noc@viewqwest.com) - the engineers will look into it and see if there's a better route to that particular server.

There are trade-offs when "messing" with MTU. Gain in some usage, Loss in other usage. ;)

Well true, but since I do my torrenting on one PC and gaming on the other, I can test these settings on the gaming rig. :)

Yes, but I believe the router MTU matters as well, and the next question of course is if it really works. ;)

well, it did reduce my wow ping slightly. about 20ms on stinktel dsl.

u could mess with mtu, but your throughput will suffer. as what chaicka said, win some, lose some.

you could also try disabling tcp offload in your adapter settings to see if your cpu can do better as some onboard network card does a poorer job.

Ok, I've included all the info you asked for. Quickly losing faith in this company though.

I posted on your forums ages ago but as usual no reply.

I am still not getting any replies from NOC.

It's been a week and bad latency still happens on SC2 HOTS Bnet servers.

bro you sure you tracerouting the correct server? The tracert from local servers went to US servers, you can see from ip.att.net as the hostnames.

Go to us.battle.net/support/en/article/performing-a-traceroute#addresses and get the correct IP to traceroute.

Additionally, please read: "Because of the safeguards that protect our Battle.net servers, you may notice later hops in your trace route failing with an error message such as 'Request Timed Out' or 'Destination Net Unreachable'. You may also see inflated latency numbers. You can ignore any error messages you receive after contacting our servers as they do not indicate a problem with your internet connection.".

just got my viewqwest installed yesterday,
but the vpn is still not available yet, can't watch anything on VQTV, PPTV can't display anything. the page on vpntest.viewqwest.com still show Setup Incomplete.

and any reason why i can't access
Soccer / Football News and Scores - ESPN FC

by the way, do u put your own DNS server on your own router? or use the ones specified in the zhone router i.e. 202.x.x.x etc?

I can access the website. You try pinging it to see if there's a reply. If no reply check if you can access other websites.

If you change the DNS servers from the ones assigned to you from Viewqwest, your Freedom VPN will not work.

This is my tracert :

i don't think i traceroute the wrong IPs.

Those information's are provided on Bnet site.

StarCraft II
REGION: The Americas
IP ADDRESS:
12.129.202.154
63.240.104.93

There are 2 US servers. One is .12 one is .63.

Whenever i'm on .12, my latency is fine. It's only when i'm connected to .63, the latency issue spike.

And FYI VQ, NOBODY yet to call me. It's coming to almost 2 weeks. It's either you resolve it or waive off the first month charges. This type of service is ridiculous because i terminated my Starhub Cable for this and my Starhub 10MB cable don't have this issue.
