ViewQwest TV

Anyone interested in getting another Viewqwest TV? I realised I haven't touched that thing more than once since my line was activated.

when am i getting the 400/200 upgrade?

Hi there,

have you e-mailed noc? All existing customers should have received the upgrade on their download speed by now.

Hi,

I intends to sign up for VQ soon. But does VQ provides trunking service? If not, should I sign up for VQ first or should I engage a third party to do the trunking first? Sorry, still a noob in this area. Thanks for any advice:)!

Unfortunately we do not - we can put you in touch with a contractor to do this though. We'd recommend doing the trunking first, but you can do it after you sign up and whilst you wait for the line to be activated and installed.

Hi Nic,

I've decided to go with VQ.

However, Ayub the cabling guy will be coming before you guys can do the installation.

What should i tell him about the installation?

My tp is in the living room. i intend to put the modem in the room one wall apart.
but i need the digital voice to be in the living room.

Go for Ayub. He has done trunking / cabling works for quite a number of forumers here. He did mine over the false ceiling and the job was very well done.

Apple TV will work* with a converter - HDMI to component converter / scaler.

* - for protected / HDCP content - its a hit and miss with the converter.

So best to go with a direct HDMI if its possible.

Hi Nic,

My download speed is reflected as 200 now, but upload is still 75. Should I contact noc?

I think that it probably has been increased. Bear in mind Speedtest doesn't give such an accurate reflection of upload. My upload speed result has gone from ~120mbps previously when it should have been 150mbps, to 158mbps now when it's theoretically 200mbps.

Your 78mbps is about half that, which makes sense.

Unfortunately, apart from finding someone else on VQ to test direct downloads from you (FTP or similar), there isn't really any real-world way to saturate your upstream to test this.

Upload will take longer time to upgrade, if you are testing using viewqwest server, it will reflect the real speed

Hello!

That's great! You should indeed let him know about it. If you absolutely want the modem to be in the living room, you'll need to ask him to trunk a fiber cable from the TP to the living where you want to put the Zhone (since the Zhone has to be connected via fiber to the FTP). However, you could also just put the Zhone next to the FTP, get cat 6 cabling to wherever you need from the Zhone's GE ports - and if there is a phone socket in the wall near the FTP, you can plug a phone cable from that socket into the Zhone's voice ports and all the phone sockets in your house should have OneVoice.

Unfortunately i think the Apple TV only supports HDMI, you can find more about the tech specs of the Apple TV here: Apple

Upload speed takes a bit longer to upgrade - all customers should be upgraded by the end of september.

Very weak signal and almost unusable when crossing 2 walls in my flat. I have to use home plug in some rooms.

speedtest result with zhone's buil-in wireless, 40mhz, crossing one wall.
