there was news recently that Japan will lower the covid19 classification level to that of normal flu this coming spring. Means no more quarantine checks and stuff. No exact time and precise details as yet, but means it's pretty much gonna be like here. Would be interesting to know if they still need travellers to register the My Japan Web thing.

I think it's scheduled for May 8th (after Golden Week)

Not officially announced so you need to wait for most of your questions.

Even now-
No visas needed for Singaporeans.
No quarantine or app download needed.

What if really true then I would be so happy, as my departure is 9 May 2023.
makes no dealbreaker difference as compared to now. the only difference for now and then will be the registration via the Visit Japan Web app.

Correct, no deal breaker change ... but hopefully after May 8th everyone won't feel obliged to wear a mask as they do now, even if just walking down the street. That's what all my Japanese friends are hoping anyway :)

currently need to fill in details in the visit japan web
need to upload vaccine cert

then either print out or use the app or just screenshot the qr codes in your phone
using app may be a bit slow if you using the airport's wifi, see some ppl struggling with their phone

Suggest a local sim, mifi or roaming plan. It's good to have data as can use Google maps for directions and information on restaurants etc. While on the move. Can use a phone to register up to 10 people. But that may be a little cumbersome. For 3 pax is doable in my experience.

Entered via kix on Sunday. I was asked to do a screenshot of the quarantine page after showing them the webpage.

For immigration qr alternative is to fill in the paper form. Can obtain from the airline on boarding.

Not sure about customs though.

I'll be posting within this thread and share all the videos taken by my Singaporean friend who has been living in Japan for 30 years, Yamanashi near Mount Fuji. He is PR in Japan.

Here are some of the videos he forwarded to me and I've uploaded it to my YouTube channel.
