Vivo X Fold 5 display, camera, processor, and battery details leak ahead of launch

Vivo’s X Fold 3 line of foldables launched in April 2024, so it’s about time we start hearing about a follow-up. As expected, the company is reportedly skipping the number four in the name as it is considered unlucky in China. So the next model will likely be called the X Fold 5.

A new leak from XpertPick appears to confirm the same and reveals the device’s full specifications well ahead of its official debut.

Vivo X Fold 5 specifications (rumored)

According to the leak, the X Fold 5 will feature a 6.53-inch LTPO OLED cover screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The inner display is said to measure 8.03 inches and also uses AMOLED tech with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution.
Powering the device will reportedly be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the same chip powering the X Fold 3 Pro. It is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The rear camera setup is expected to include three 50MP sensors: a main Sony IMX921, an ultrawide with autofocus, and a Sony IMX882 telephoto with 3x optical zoom. For selfies, Vivo may include two 32MP cameras; one on the outer display and another inside.

Vivo X Fold 5 Specs leak

The battery could be one of the key differentiators. It’s said to be a 6000mAh cell, which would make it the largest battery in any foldable on the market so far. Despite that, the body is rumored to measure just 4.3mm when unfolded and 9.3mm when folded. Charging is expected to be 90W wired and 30W wireless.

Moreover, the leak says the device will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a three-stage Alert Slider, and several AI-driven tools. It will also have an official IP rating. For context, the previous X Fold 3 Pro came with an IPX4 rating.
Interestingly, the report also suggests Vivo might not launch a Pro variant this time around, meaning no direct successor to the X Fold 3 Pro.

The X Fold5, on the other hand, will allegedly come with an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED screen with "2K+" resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, a 6.53-inch LTPO OLED cover screen with 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 6,000 mAh battery with 90W wired and 30W wireless charging support.

It will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It will have a 50 MP main camera with the same IMX921 sensor as the X200 FE, a 50 MP ultrawide with autofocus, and a 50 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and (you guessed it) the IMX882 sensor. For selfies the device will have two 32 MP shooters.

There will also be a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a three-stage Alert Slider-like button, there will be an IP rating too. The X Fold5 will be 4.3mm thick when unfolded and 9.33mm thick when folded.

Comparison between this and it's predecessor

Thought the chipset would be upgraded to elite and the camera is a downgrade zzzzz
Would jump wagon to honor magic V5 if the rumor about the above is true

Typically Vivo fold will come in 2 variants. Base and a Pro model. Base model always have side mounted fingerprint and lower camera specs. Pro model comes with the in-display fingerprint and better camera. So Hopefully, the above information is only the base model and Pro variant will improve in all aspects from the current fold 3 pro.

If that's the case then its really sad.. If they're Launching with 8 gen 3 and side mounted fingerprint then there is no attractive features given the same 8 gen 3 fold like Magic V3 all can get around 1200++ nowadays.

I am ok with the screen since I use the inner big screen 99% of the time
But I am not ok with the same chipset, downgraded camera even if the battery size gets bigger ,might as well stick to the current flagship

The leading makers of foldables are in a race to slim down their devices – not just in terms of thickness but also in weight. vivo exec Boxiao Han shared a video of the vivo X Fold3 and the upcoming X Fold5 being weighed on a scale and the new model is clearly lighter.

How light? Well, the X Fold3 is 219g, but no official number was given for the new model – so all we can say with certainty is that the vivo X Fold5 will be less than that.

According to leaked specs, the X Fold5 will measure 4.3mm when opened and 9.33mm when closed. The X Fold3 is 4.7mm and 10.2mm, respectively. There are already devices that are thinner than that, e.g. the Oppo Find N5 is 4.2mm/8.9mm, but it weighs 229g. IceUniverse claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 will measure 4.2mm/8.9mm. So, it will be thinner than the vivo, but how much will it weigh? That’s TBD at the moment.

Anyway, back to the leaked specs – the vivo X Fold5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, apparently, the same chip as on the Fold3 Pro. It will be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage. The phone will have a triple 50MP camera on the back, including a 3x telephoto, and two 32MP selfies (one on each screen).

vivo X Fold5 (left) and X Fold3 (right)

We took some screenshots of the video (above) and you can see that the vivo X Fold5 is indeed thinner than the X Fold3. However, the phone is shown with its main screen up, which doesn’t reveal much detail. That screen will be an 8.03” 120Hz “2K+” panel, while the cover display will be a 6.53” 120Hz LTPO OLED. The battery is said to have 6,000mAh capacity, 90W wired and 30W wireless charging.

This hasn't been confirmed officially yet, but the vivo X Fold5 (alongside the X200 FE) are expected to be unveiled on July 10, just over a month from now.

Seems like they are all competing on thinness now, just sacrificing processing power and camera lens. A bit dumb.

vivo X Fold5 will have unprecedented dust and water resistance for a foldable
Vlad, 07 June 2025
vivo has started the teaser campaign for its upcoming X Fold5, which according to a recent rumor is due to be unveiled on July 10. The phone will boast unprecedented dust and water resistance ratings for a foldable.

We're talking about IP5X dust resistance, which beats Samsung's IP4X, as well as a trio of water resistance ratings: IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+. IP5X means the phone will not entirely prevent ingress of dust, but "it must not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with the safe operation", according to the IP code definitions.

vivo X Fold5 teaser image
Regarding IPX9+, vivo says you'll be able to fold and unfold the X Fold5 in water 1m deep 1,000 times, which is certainly impressive, even though we're not sure what the use case for that would be in the real world.

Finally, no other foldable so far has received an IPX9 certification, which is all about protection from water jets (IPX8 is about immersion into water).

The X Fold5 is also teased to be the lightest book-style foldable ever, and will be offered in green as you can see from the glimpse in the shot above.

vivo X Fold5 teased once more with official image and some display specs
Ro, 09 June 2025
The vivo X Fold5 will reportedly launch on July 10. Тhere's no official confirmation of the announcement date, but judging by the frequency of the teasers lately, the debut is definitely near. The latest official teaser contains a full-frontal image of the upcoming foldable.

The teaser image isn't particularly revealing as it only shows the internal display, and it's hard to determine how thick the bezels are. But the picture does show a new physical button on the left side, likely replacing the mute switch from the previous generation.

The teaser also cites LTPO 8T displays on the inside and outside, 4,500 nits of peak brightness, high-frequency PWM dimming for less stress on your eyes and Zeiss Master Color calibration for more accurate color reproduction and consistency across both displays.

The vivo X Fold5 shapes up to be an impressive foldable, especially considering the unprecedented dust and water resistance and the slim profile.

As for the specs of the upcoming foldable, vivo is rumored to go with the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. We’ve also seen reports that the device will feature 8T LTPO OLED main (8.03”) and cover (6.53”) displays.
