VPN Queries

Need some advice, am an IT noob and just want to make some clarifications before committing to any VPN subscriptions.

Currently Singnet BB user, usually I am using a MBA in study (WIFI) , sons play online games via their notebooks (Homeplug)

Should I log on to VPN on my MBA, does it mean that my sons (presumed they are on the notebooks playing games) would be under the VPN too? If so, any implications to their gameplay etc?

Basically, when you log on to vpn, it is just a private connection between your MBA to the Organization network you are connecting to.

so, any implications to their gameplay ?
