Not too sure about other… but I believe shopback is paid quite a handsome sum for getting them a new customer … in hope these customer stay or to artificially inflate their user base…

also NordVPN also have some user reported issue where people getting charged despite disabled auto subscription…

They earn from your renewal if you forget. Their servers are always up and running anyway. No ppl use also wasted
