This one cannot repack one la. It's the shape of the item. A common rule of thumb is that anything long or tall is going to have high volumetric weight

Lol, that mat would taken up a hell lot of volumetric space. People still never read properly how they charge and then complain. That's why so hard to please customers. :s13::s13::s22::s22:

Anyone tried BFM service? Thinking of getting a pack bag from USA, any ideal what is the
Shipping charge from Vpost or CGW? I tried the live quote from CGW is around $65 based
on the sizes the chargeable weight is 6.5Kgs.

Exactly. I don't get how some people can think that their huge item should not cost much in shipping just because it doesn't weigh much. It still takes up room on the freight plane right?

Seriously, if your item is available to be shipped directly to Singapore from Amazon or what, just take that $10-20 shipping option rather than gamble on it being packed small enough to cost relatively little via freight forwarding.

OVERCHARGING BY BORDERLINX

OVERCHARGING BY BORDERLINX! + BAD SERVICE!!!

Recently bought a lightweight jacket and had Seller ship the jacket in an envelope to borderlinx USA.

Weight of jacket registered as 4.09kg. I know that the jacket will not be more than 1 kg, plus the fact that Seller confirmed that she ship in envelope. Contacted livechat, asked to check measurements etc, was told that measurements was correct.

When my parcels arrived, I immediately check this particular parcel. I weighed it and weight was 700+gm and it came in a DHL envelope. I called DHL Singapore and they confirmed that NONE of my parcels in that shipment exceeded 2+kg, actual or volumetric weight!

I wrote to Borderlinx, customer service asked for measurements of the envelope??? Considering that it was a jacket inside the envelope, not a box, there is no definitive measurements. I told them that Borderlinx is welcomed to contact DHL Singapore to:
1) Confirm that none of my parcels exceeded 2+kg in that shipment, OR:
2) Send a staff down to check the parcel measurements/show me how their 16*13*6" measurements were derived.

Borderlinx refused saying they have no business with DHL Singapore, only DHL USA.

I then sent pictures of the parcel's measurements and guess what their response was???

The customer service staff actually insinuated that the measurements I sent him was that of an empty parcel after I have taken out the jacket??? That pissed the hell out of me!!! HOW DARE YOU!

I didn't want to make this public but hey! You borderlinx overstated measurements + overcharge + customer service staff insinuating that I am a cheat by sending you pictures of an empty parcel???

I tried to attach pictures of my parcel here, showing the actual measurements and weight but was unable to do so here in HWZ due to the following reasons: "You do not have sufficient post count to post images/links. Please remove the images/links from your message, then you will be able to submit your post."

I an happy to share my very negative experience and actual pictures with those still considering Borderlinx services!

USE BORDERLINX AT YOUR OWN RISK!

vPost will kill your health.

vPost confirmed to provide terribly intransparent services and support with no care about what's actually the problem, just answers by the book.

My story: I had to pay twice the shipping costs and GST because their package bundling does not work properly.

Question: Why can vPost not simply use the original IDs? Why does it take 2 days to record successful deliveries on vpost website? Why would the support not try to listen and understand? Or why are they not willing to stop a shipment NOT sent OUT of their warehouse yet to consolidate?

Story:
a) One parcel was added too late to the shopping cart in vPost. (2 DAYS after FedEx and the merchant had confirmed its successful delivery in the vPost warehouse!) As a result, there was a mix-up in declaration.
b) The mix-up occured because SingPost/vPost introduces their own tracking IDs which do not match with FedEx and UPS. (By the way, the SingPost IDs look like credit card numbers and thus are censored in queries on the amazon website.) You can only tell by the merchant name who sent what. What if you had several packages sent from the same merchant? What if FedEx tells you it's in, but vPost does not record the entry? You have a problem with vPost.
c) When I tried to put everything back in transit before the first incomplete package was shipped, vPost support would not even try to understand. ( Something like Oh, they are all in the warehouse. No, they are right there. Oh, they are already in transit to Singapore. We cannot send parcels back to the merchant. There's also a package ID next to the tracking ID. That's what Fedex means, right? We cannot help you. No supervisor is available. Can you get a call back?) Promised to receive a call back, I only received an email from the manager repeating the misunderstandings.)

Oh, by the way, listening a whole 50 seconds to some SingPost announcement before you can call for vPost is awful. Worse, if you get kicked out of the calls several times. Last but not least, they do not do repackaging, either. But that's nothing compared to this incident.

I bought the items on 3 Dec, using Amazon's free delivery. I received my last package on 12 Dec at Vpost USA and it's registered in less than 24hours. My first package however took longer to be registered, more than a day I think. I shipped my package on 12 Dec and the invoice indicates 19 - 24 Dec for the package to arrive.

I rcvd shipping notification from vpost on 14 Dec. Sadly though, when I checked on my account, one of the package status was not updated - I hope they didn't miss it.

If you shipped direct fr Amazon, it would take 5 to 8 days (or 8 to 10 days I can't remember).

This is EXACTLY same as mine VPOST order.
I had 3 items in 1 package, however only could see 2 item tracking status.
I've been using VPOST for years, no issues yet, hope this is not the first.
Vpost does not even offer an express service, maybe should consider alternatives from next year.

As much as I dislike vPost, this thing does not only happening with vPost.
I experienced the same thing with comgateway. And worse, comgateway informed me that my item was damaged. With 2 days delay, I am suspicious that my item was damaged by comgateway (of course they would not admit!). When I asked them comgateway only acknowledge the receipt of this item 2 days after USPS tracking showed that item had been delivered, the staff told me that it was because of weekend. Obviously the person did not even bother to check my item because my item arrived on a Tuesday (US time).

I lost USD 100 because of this damaged item :( They still have the cheek to inform me "Please arrange for refund/return with the merchant directly. We are unable to assist with refund/return as item was not purchased via BuyForMe service". The funny thing is when subsequently I tried to buy the same item (from a different seller) using BuyForMe service, the refused my order because item was fragile in nature.

Planning on shipping electronics ?
Watch out, the regulations are changing in 2014!
Electronics icons

Dear Jeff Lim,

As of the 1st of January, 2014, the regulations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) will change regarding lithium batteries.

From that date onwards, some lithium batteries or combinations of batteries will be considered "dangerous goods" and cannot be shipped .
To avoid disappointment and inconvenience, be sure to check your product specifications carefully against the restrictions summarised below before you purchase . This information will also be published as an FAQ on our website.

LITHIUM BATTERIES

IMPORTANT! As you may know, there is a risk of certain lithium batteries catching fire. New regulations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in effect as of 1st January 2014 restrict the shipment of certain specific types of lithium batteries, which are considered "dangerous goods" - which we do not handle. Although not all lithium batteries are affected by these regulations, be sure to check your product specifications carefully against the restrictions below.

In general, lithium ion batteries with laptops, cameras, mobile phones and similar products will be limited to one battery in the product and one spare battery. But don't rely on that rule of thumb; it's important to check the specifics of the battery or batteries you want to ship - before you purchase the product.

NEW IATA RESTRICTIONS FROM 1.1.2014:
The restrictions are based on the "Wh" value. "Wh" means Watt hours.

The following batteries cannot be shipped:
LITHIUM ION BATTERIES with •over 2.7 Wh and less than 100 Wh per battery and more than two batteries per box, OR
•over 2.7 Wh and less than 100 Wh per battery and more than 8 cells per package.

LITHIUM METAL BATTERIES with •over 0.3g lithium and less than 1g lithium per battery and more than two batteries per box, OR
•over 0.3g lithium and less than 1g lithium per battery and no more than 8 cells per box.

Nothing to complain against, weight vs volumetric weight, which ever is heavier.....:o

I guess they must have packed a polo shirt in a box as big as a fish tank then. Or Does the 1.5kg sound like physical wweight of a shirt to you? I don't think I ordered a bullet proof vest polo.

Its a nightmare. I received just one item this afternoon (like I predicted), and the other item is not traceable. They didn't pack/bundle it together. I got charged for repacking service. I'm afraid they packed it with other people's items. This whole thing drives me crazy!
I called them, and they said my "missing" package is on its way to SG. just that its not updated in the system - the US side has their own offline records. I can only wait.

Again, EXACTLY the same. 2 of my products arrived on Thu and Fri. No sign of "repackaging" despite I was charged repacking service. The other one? Not traceable!

Called in got EXACTLY same answer: the other one is on the way to me and will arrive before 24th (they claimed if pay by 12th will get delivered by 24th). But now really stared worrying.

lol they can't stop you from making mistakes (like shipping fragile things), but they can definitely try (by not letting you do a buyforme). haven't you seen how baggage handlers load your consumer luggage? what made you think yours would be handled gently? i love pretty pots but im certainly not gg to risk shipping it.

vPost confirmed to provide terribly intransparent services and support with no care about what's actually the problem, just answers by the book.
welcome to a company with a 90s heartlander mindset, in a modern world. i just returned my jcrew clothes (worth >$100) via their service.. registered airmail. and it can't be found in their system.

b) The mix-up occured because SingPost/vPost introduces their own tracking IDs which do not match with FedEx and UPS.

They do this because anyone can have their own tracking numbers. And everyone follows a different style.
Hypothetically, if VPOST used these numbers, then in the medium-long run, there will be duplicates and confusion.

c) When I tried to put everything back in transit before the first incomplete package was shipped, vPost support would not even try to understand. ( Something like Oh, they are all in the warehouse. No, they are right there. Oh, they are already in transit to Singapore. We cannot send parcels back to the merchant. There's also a package ID next to the tracking ID. That's what Fedex means, right? you suay lor :) i hate vpost.

I'm curious to your vPost's miscalculation. Because right now I'm puzzled. I bought 3 items from Amazon and use the single packaging option. That means they will put all 3 items into 1 box. When it reached vPost, they then repack the box (for god knows why). This repacking makes the box from 1.9kg to 2.6 kg now. Then vPost then charge me $12 for the repacking.

Seems like a red flag to me. See attached.

Oh and worst part about vPost is their customer service. So I emailed them to ask why is my packaged being repacked, it gained 0.7kg and I'm being charged $12 for this?

See the reply by this Jerna Bustamante :-
pbpw.png

Update. vPost charged me $12 for repacking service and increased the weight of the package but they didn't repack at all. When I got the package, it's still in the Amazon package.
