Hi guys,

Wanna do some upgrade.

i5-2500k
Asus p8p67 b3
Kingston 4gbx2 ddr3
Wd 1 tb
Msi Gtx 660ti (just up'd last year)
Aurum 80+ gold 550w
Fractal Design Arc midi

Used to be just for gaming but now i need to include that i will be doing editing with softwares like Maya/3dmax/photoshop for school.

From the looks i might need a better cpu, more storage and more rams?

Please advice guys TIA.

P.S : last time moneyface helped me build this system what happend to him ? :D

No, all you need is a better GPU, 8GB more RAM for a sum of 16GB RAM, a better CPU cooler to push for higher clock rates in your unlocked K processor and maybe a more powerful PSU (600-700+W) to run your overclocked system.

How often are you running Maya and 3D Max? Unfortunately, these programs require the use of professional grade GPUs for best results and gaming grade GPUs are absolute rubbish at running these programs. Professional grade GPUs do not come cheap, though.

Can consider getting a SSD, they are relatively cheap nowadays and can do wonders for your system.

You may want to state a budget for your upgrade, otherwise, anything goes.

$face is still here in this forum, last I remember.

Are you sure you need upgrading just for school work? It is one thing to do it for a living, it is another just for school work. As a student, do you have so much money to spend on high end PC components?

Thanks guys for the replys.

Well after factoring what u guys said, i'll just use computers in school for all the editing(more late nights in school :( )

So as far as gaming goes, i feel my comp needs an update. I havent tried overclocking and i dont feel comfortable doing it.

What i feel like doing is updating the mobo, cpu, ram, storage for the future.Should i hold on for broadwell or something? Would be appreciative if u guys can list down items

Budget - $500 - 700.
Use - Gaming

Thanks.

Graphics card upgrade is your best bet if you want more performance for games. The SandyBridge CPUs are still very competent in regards to games.

How unhappy are you with the performance of your current compared to the ones in your school with respect to maya/3dmax/photoshop?

Like what AlterX said, school comp are using quadro and are used for 1 purpose and that is to do our work so ofc i cant compare with those comps.

So as of now, i just wanna upgrade certain components of my comp so it stays updated with the current specs. Dont need it to be super high end just probably above average.

Thanks
