I am looking to get a Alienware X51 from dell website but then i realised that i can get it much cheaper from amazon.com (USD1,114 vs SGD 1,799)

However I saw on the amazon website

"Warranty & Support
Amazon.com Return Policy: You may return any new computer purchased from Amazon.com that is "dead on arrival," arrives in damaged condition, or is still in unopened boxes, for a full refund within 30 days of purchase. Amazon.com reserves the right to test "dead on arrival" returns and impose a customer fee equal to 15 percent of the product sales price if the customer misrepresents the condition of the product. Any returned computer that is damaged through customer misuse, is missing parts, or is in unsellable condition due to customer tampering will result in the customer being charged a higher restocking fee based on the condition of the product. Amazon.com will not accept returns of any desktop or notebook computer more than 30 days after you receive the shipment. New, used, and refurbished products purchased from Marketplace vendors are subject to the returns policy of the individual vendor."

Does it mean if i encounter any problems i cant bring to local dell repair? Am I paying so much less due to lack of warranty?

You can call the local Dell to find out if there is international warranty. Do note the USD price that you get on Amazon, still do not include shipping charges. Not sure how much will that add to your cost?

Personally, I won't recommend getting a laptop overseas cause given the size and weight, it can be quite costly to ship it back if there is no international warranty. Just my personal opinion.

called the local dell they said they dont know, cannot answer on behalf of US side.. :|

The X51 is a small form desktop, so packing size shd be smaller than a laptop, weight at most 1.5-2kg and I'm consolidating a few items so work out should be < SGD$50 :p Price diff is about SGD300-400 (depending on final shipping and exchange rate) which is quite substantial. Only concern is warranty

Ah, the small form factor desktop. I remember it comes a chunky power brick that is quite heavy too. If the shipping fee is reasonable, its pretty much up to you to consider getting this. For me, I will get this locally since it is pretty pricey.
