Yes, in many cases you can extend AppleCare+ after the initial 2 years, but it depends on a few factors:
  • Your device: This applies to iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and Apple Vision Pro.

  • Where you live: Apple offers this extension in many countries, including Singapore.

  • How you paid for the original AppleCare+: If you paid upfront, you might be able to purchase new coverage that renews monthly or annually.
Here's how to check and extend:
  1. Check your coverage: Go to Settings > General > AppleCare & Warranty on your device, or visit mysupport.apple.com.

  2. Extend if eligible: If your plan is eligible, you'll see an option to extend it. You might need to do this within 45 days of your original coverage ending.

Keep in mind:
  • Terms and conditions: The extended coverage will be subject to the current AppleCare+ terms and conditions at the time of renewal.

  • Availability: While available in Singapore, it's always best to check with Apple Support or their website for the most up-to-date information on eligibility and the process.
I hope this helps!

You definitely should. Here's why.

My Ultra 1 had issue due to corrupted firmware a month before the 2 years AppleCare+ expires. I went to Genius Bar and they ran Mobile Resource Inspector and found no hardware issues. Battery is normal, health is 87% and cycle count is 330 but unable to run battery usage test. It always show last charged to 100% on 28/10/2024 with no charge time bar even though I charges the watch to 100% daily.

I'll need to handover my watch to them to restore the firmware. It can only be done at Apple Store using their machine. Later the same day I received an email from Apple saying the repair estimate cost is $687.16 but I do not need to pay as I'm covered by AppleCare+ till 11/12/2024.

It cost almost $700 just to reinstall the corrupted firmware, that's madness.

This is exactly what i experienced last week. Not able to charge after I updated to latest version.

went to apple store, they checked and confirmed not hardware issue (my applecare+ just expired 2 weeks ago), wont charge me too due to firmware issue. they tried to restore at the store but not able hence had to send to service centre, received the same estimated cost too lol.

Got back my device few days later and all back to normal, then prompt me offering me to renew applecare+ for a year (have to purchase within few days).

im considering

Oh wow, did you enquire it's specific to AWU series only?
Or other apple products able to extend/renew AC+?

I think the option should appear after your AppleCare+ expired and you need to purchase it within 45 days of your original coverage ending. Perhaps you want to call Apple Support @ 1800-692-7753 to confirm.

I only came to know about this extended warranty after I read @Keeystar posting, by then my AppleCare+ has already expired more than 2 months, hence, I'm no long eligible. Hopefully nothing will go wrong until they announce Ultra 3 in September.

You should accept their offer since you're still eligible. You never know.

I just replaced my ultra1 with apple. So maybe give this $79 a miss now.

That day you should have bought the extended AppleCare+ for $99. Now it will cost you a bomb to repair it.

If you're still eligible within the 45 days window period, you should consider it.

Unfortunately this just happened to my watch. Was doing my usual run and the screen started flickering and the apple logo came up. Could not revive and screen went totally blank thereafter. 2.5 years and that’s about it. Apple wanted to charge close to $700 to repair, Bought a series 10 after that.

cause the repair is as good as a replacement. they don't "repair" watches.

That's why always buy AC+ if want to extend the life of Apple Devices, never know when it decides to die.
