Unfortunately, a water spillage on my macbook pro 13" caused it to stop working. The water went in via the back vents instead of the top of the keyboard. I've tried to rescue it via putting it in rice and in a drybox.

I've just repaired the screen on it last year with apple (cost $642) so the screen is still new and probably works. Is there anyway to get some money back from the macbook or should I even try asking apple to repair it? Unsure how much it would cost, but I'm guessing it'll be quite substantial.

My wife has an older macbook pro 13" late 2013 which has a stained screen. Thinking I might replace her screen with my broken macbook's.

Any other ideas on what I should do?

Water damage are usually expensive.

Do you know how expensive?
I'm guessing if it's $500 ish, I might still think about repairing it.
However, if it's more than $1000, then it would make more sense to get a new or used macbook pro.
