anyone watercooling their tr4 using AIO?
these AIO waterblocks are the same as ryzen?
if AIO used on tr4 the surface contact with the tr4 chip will be smaller?
any negative impact?

going along the same line of thought, a ryzen waterblock can also be used with tr4 if there is correct mounting bracket?

Im using it with my 1900x temporary.

Aio must be an asertek based aio. Which comes with a asertek design.

When u buy any TR, they will give you a asertek based mounting bracket to support.

It is not the best cooling solution as it didnt really cover most of the die area. But thats the best that the current aio cooling solution has to offer.

Do put more thermal paste to get most of the heat transfered to the cooler.

Personally im doing custom water cooling, more custom water blocks are entering the market soon. Im sure that they will design more newer cooler for aio solution soon.

was wondering if non-aio ryzen am4 waterblocks can be used with tr4 by using this mounting kit

Custom loop waterblocks are tailored designs than generic parts with various spacers necessary for a certain platform.

If you buy a TR4 waterblock it will come with the necessary accessories to get working.

Those are for the usage with exisiting AM4 waterblocks only. Not for AIOs. Is that what you trying to ask?

Are you looking for a solution to buy a TR4 waterblock or a AM4 waterblock with TR4 bracket?

Please note that there is no TR4 waterblock meant for TR yet. Not even the one that EK has now. EK just took a supremacy block and extend the cold plate to support TR4. The proper TR4 waterblocks from EK is yet to be announced.

On the other hand Aquacomputer just release a few TR4 waterblocks. They are able to do so as their blocks cold plate are generally larger than usual and able to cover fully the die areas, which allow them to just offer the same waterblock but TR4 mounting.

Heatkiller will probably come in soon on the 9th of Sept. With proper TR4 mounting and TR4 base cold plate.

Do note that despite you can use AM4 with TR4 bracket to cool the cpu, but you must understand that the water only runs through a smaller surface area than TR4 waterblock.

Where did you get your information from that the new EK TR4 block is not meant for the TR4? The only TR4 blocks they have in the pipeline and announced are monoblocks. If you what you say is true, you are saying that EK is misleading its customers.

This water block is tailor made for AMD® Ryzen™ Threadripper™ processors and it perfectly fits the new SocketTR4 motherboards.

I did not say they are not meant for tr4 in a sense that it cant be used. More of just not the same as having both the cold plate having water flowing through a larger surface area for proper cooling.

Check his video comparisons, they just making the cold plate larger just to cover the die area. Little did they do to make the water block bigger to cover more surface area.

Yes, the cold plate is bigger but the internals are enlarged as well to cover the enlarged cold plate.

I took apart my own Supremacy EVO TR block the other day to change the orientation of the inlet and outlets. The micro channel array in the centre and the surrounding trench does look larger than the ones in the original Supremacy EVO that I have.

As for AIOs and the OP's question, I am using an Cryorig A40 while I am waiting for parts. With two fans running about 1500rpm, my delta is 30 degrees. I doubt there will be much long term issues with older AIOs, as AMD has soldered the IHS to the dies for a good transfer. Heck, they even shipped review units with non-TR4 specific coolers.

Looks like 1950X is 4x8 CPU dies configuration on the PCB after all :s22:

Many would have thought it's just 2x8 CPU dies as what AMD has be communicated with everyone but looks like AMD is holding back the highest tier (which competes with the Intel X7980XE with 18 cores/38 threads) which will be 4x8 CPU dies aka 32 CPU cores and 64 threads.

Question is which are the 2 CPU dies are actually in use and out of the 4? which der8auer has having a hard time trying to figure out and he did managed to delid it and found out the AMD ThreadRipper 1950X was already dead (during the delid process) while booting up with temperature probe attached onto the 4 CPU dies trying to find out which are the 2 active CPU dies.

Check out his YouTube video.

based on what i seen so far, asertek style aio are round and covers about 70% of tr4
for custom ryzen waterblock it should cover about 80% since it is squarish and slightly bigger than aio
wondering if the swiftech mounting kit is universal and can be used for custom am4 waterblocks to fit tr4

If you read the webpage, you would know the answer. It is only meant to work with their own products.
