WD HDD problem

Hi guys, i wanna seek your kind advice here on WD HDD problem which i encounter earlier.
Not too sure maybe some of you had already encounter.
My WD 'My Book" series HDD had this connect & disconnect problem. when i connect my hdd, it will on/off a couple of times den it went slient undetected.
after a couple of tries, it total went dead.
hence, i call the wd line and they sent me a new power adapter to try.
today i just tried the new adapter, my hdd don't even power up.
i not too sure if my hdd still able to recover the data or is it totally gone case?

any recommended data recovery service? i see from the wd website, there is this company ontrack data recovery in jurong business park. is this reliable?

any bros/sis got any advice if my hdd is still able to recover?

Your disk had some problems with the power adapter..That's why WD send you a new adaptor. The disk head might have got stuck during the power breakdown and that's why it is not spinning and have no sound. Also your PCB might be burnt out during the shorting/overloading.

The data should still be recoverable as long as the platters are not scratched.

Ontrack is an international and reputable company. It is WD recommended data recovery centre and should be able to recover the data for you.

If you want other recommendation, my favourite choice is Accplus Technologies for its lower pricing and professional service as seen with the positive reviews from users .

i was wondering for any hdd that been performed a data recovery, does that means the hdd is unusable?
by far this is my first experience for such a "power failure" on hdd, the norm case which was the data "disappear" over the night.

by far this my book hdd is the shortest (approx 1 year time) to failure.

Your hard disk is a gone case when it needs data recovery service.

It depends on the fault of the drive. For your case, if it is just the PCB, then it is still usable...but do you dare to use it. Most people will just discard or resell it or RMA if possible.

Actually, for your case, it is not the hdd problem. Either your connection was loose or the adaptor is faulty that causes your hdd to be damaged.

There is nothing much to maintain except to be aware that your hdd is not running too hot and notice the symptoms that the disks give out before actual failure.

In the long run, it is better to have a good and reliable backup system that will do a backup as often as it meets your situation and needs.
