WD My Book LIVE help

Hey guys,

Just bought the WD My book LIVE over the IT show. Now... I kinda regret cause I much prefer the USB version as opposed to this NAS(can't find any use for NAS ATM).

Any ideas on how I can utilise it to be more of USB transfer? There's sadly no USB port for this

there is a ethernet port and cable u can hook up to ur PC or Laptop, it is faster than USB

after u setup as long as u have internet u can access the files on your WD Live

it is better, no need USB

u can call the number on the receipt to change to USB model but they will not refund the difference so u may have to buy higher capacity model

Anyway, with NAS, you can access your file anywhere both using laptop and mobile app.

I think the connection thru the router is much slower than USB despite using LAN CABle (Cat 5E).

I didn't know the speed would be so slow. Was pasting a folder from my desktop in, the speed was around 10mb/s. Surprisingly my desktop is connected via a LAN cable to the router.

hi guys, need to ask question.

How to access the mybook as 'admin'? The factory setting doesn't have any password for admin username thus we should be able to connect without using password but that's not the case for me. Anybody knows why?

I am on Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

if you are connected to a 10/100 getting 10MB/s is considered good.

to have decent speed you need to connect your computer and NAS to gigabyte router using cat 6 cable. I can get 30+mb/s. should get faster speed if i use cat 6 cable from router to my pc.

Yes, your router is the culprit. Probably 10MB/s is the best you could go.

you can google the specs of your router. if not gigabyte router, you may want to invest to get one. please note you need to be connected using wire instead wireless.

Bro, i have no problem connecting and transferring file within my house network but facing a major problem when uploading file from my office using WD2go website. The transfer rate is so slow.... Anything i can do to fasten the transfer rate? Any setting i have miss out?

Hey I was wondering if I can access the NAS behind a school-provided-internet firewall? I cant open ports etc, thus I'm not sure if this will work as I live in a dorm room.
