Web hosting/ Managed Cloud Hosting inputs please..

I have 2 domains. I signed up using www.justhost.com Last time it was available for US$2 per month, unlimited domains, unlimited space (they do count number of files and limit is 200K files) SSH, Shared SSL etc. So I signed up for 3 years package. Now renewal is going to be expensive. So I am considering switching.

My 2 domains are not active.Just used as blog and file ftp purely for personal use. so I can afford 2 days of downtime now.

Now I am going full time in Export Business Joint venture with someone. So need to have a good reliable website. Customer base is mainly from overseas and limited customers from Singapore. Main customers are likely from UAE, Middle East, Africa, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.


Considering Shared Linux Hosting and Managed Cloud Hosting. Thought of Amazon and Google cloud but Amazon and Google may require some technical expertise at lower level. So I am skipping. Hope I am right. Correct me if my assumptions are incorrect. Prefer to take up managed hosting. So I configure little. Just click and install will do as I am not a core Linux expert.


I searched using google.

Narrow down to the following preference.

1) Linux Hosting
2) SSH Access is required
3) Shared SSL or Private SSL (better)
4) Optional Static IP
5) Usual mySQL Database etc..
6) email hosting part of this package.


Need your inputs for the following

1) Where should the server location should be given my customer base?
2) Saw something CDN(content delivery network ). Should I consider hosting plan with CDN?
3) Saw Managed Cloud Hosting and Shared Linux Hosting. Which one is better?
4) Instead of going for Cloud Hosting(I assume with conventional HDD), if I choose Shared Linux Hosting with SSD will the performance better?
5) Any recommendation for hosting?
6) My budget Maximum US$10 per month. I can buy 3 years package.

5. avoid all EIG owned company http://researchasahobby.com/full-list-eig-hosting-companies-brands/ ( all of the company you listed above is Owned by EIG) except for innohosting) i would reco a fully managed VPS ( Knownhost.com) again, do PM me so i can make a better suggestion
4. it really depends on the server load and other factors, but yes is the short answer
3. Managed cloud hosting is where by you have your own server and you have your own resources unlike shared hosting. if you want to have more control over your servers go for managed cloud hosting. if you are on a budget shared would be the choice
2. it seems that you are just starting out, i would not suggest you to get CDN for now maybe as you grow can consider
1. again there is no perfect location. i would say the US is fine

i think TS saw those cheap ass ads by EIG Company and figured its enough

I am not a an IT Expert. Also I am into the business of FMCG export business where the margin is only 1% to 2% range. only the volume can generate income. One mistake will wipe out entire year of profit. So I keep low budget.

Since the export is to unfamiliar territories we do not know who is the customer and their track record. So we do not want domain spoofing , trusting some email using some fake identity etc.

Server load and bandwidth are very low. I expect per day maximum 30 customers visit my website (over 24 hours).We use simple php/html/bootstrap based webdesign. so not much overload.

At Least in the beginning we want to stick with US$10 or less budget. Looks like inmotionhosting offered good deal.

what has domain spoofing , trusting some email using some fake identity gotta do with website hosting? If you want security, all the more you have to pay for it, not some 10 bucks per month host. My advice is to host your website separate with your email and host your email with reputable providers like Rackspace or Google App Business mail. In the event you need to switch to other hosting provider, your email data is not affected.

There are no ways to prevent domain spoofing and fake identity but you can take measures and steps to make it harder for the impersonator because ultimately if the recipient party is stupid and not tech savvy enough, even a 100% system security in place also can't help.

like hafi said, you want secure, go with a known and well respected host, not some Outsourced India tech support EIG Brand company
