I use iOS in-app purchase for the first time as a trial and then wechat pay for the second time (offer, RMB118 for 12 month, Dec 2018) and third time (offer, RMB180 for 24 months, Sept 2019).

I just checked my QQ Music app under Android (Huawei P20) but I do not see the option to use Alipay.

Also please take note QQ Music (as well as Xiami Music) started to block many songs outside of China so you may have to use VPN. For me I use free Transocks VPN for this purpose. It is not very fast but good enough for music. It used to be good even for 720p video but recently seems to be slow.

Are you using alipay tour pass ? You cannot top up direct to your alipay account. You top-up to the tour pass e-wallet in the alipay app. It is a virtual bank of shanghai card.

Yes. I tried topping up to tour pass.
Quite pissed that the error message is useless and tried a few times..

You have to read the linked Chinese page to understand the real situation. International credit cards have been allowed for quite some time, but you can not pay for QQ Music, you can not pay for street vendors, you can not receive red packets, etc.

Actually you can pay for things like 12306, Didi 滴滴 Jingdong京东 and CTRIP携程 (Trip.com) in China with Wechat Pay linked to foreign credit card in China for quite some time.

They are saying they will extend the use cases for foreigners. Let's wait and see.

The following is still valid for WeChat Pay for now. Not so sure how 3rd party service works though, probably they got gray market China bank cards and China ID cards.

Made 2 topup of rmb500 each, few days back. Rate is bad, 1st=s$100.90 2nd=s$100.50. Sum up to about 1:5(3% Bank charge) .
And No for buying taobao here.

Yes you have to top up to pay for apps or street vendors. And it is not possible to do this by yourself, only through some 3rd party services which are not authorized by Tencent.

With the new development in Alipay, better use Alipay for now.

Yes. You can only pay for selected vendors like 12306 or Didi or Jingdong or Ctrip. Please scroll up and read my posts.

You have to wait for Tencent to expand the use cases.
