For info, I tested and linked both my BOC Unionpay Credit Card and Debit Card to WeChat pay, Both are successfully, in WeChat linked Credit Card information, both shows ”Credit Card”. So I guess there in no benefit for using Debit Card in this case, So I dropped the Debit Card.
A Retail Purchase of RMB 10.00 was completed with your BOC Card (-Xxxx) on 21112024, 09:24 at Tenpay Technology Comp. Please contact BOC Credit Card Hotline immediately if you have not authorized it.

In China now, Just use wechatpay to test again, working without any problem. So I can pay Card Bill later.

Is there anything special about BOC credit card , I thought from the start all credit cards works on both Wechat pay or Alipay ?

I think it is more interesting to test the debit card issued by BOC SG , no ?

Its BOC Union pay Card, So charged with RMB, no SGD conversation is needed.

Bring from China or you can change SGD to RMB via Money changer, Then Deposit RMB to BOC Account.
But that is your credit card and not debit card right ?

Means you can deposit RMB to your credit card so basically operating as a "debit card " ?

Anyway after 6 days in China. I would say for tourist just use cash. It's still accepted everywhere. If you have only 100 notes just change it with the hotel when you reach. Places that accepts union pay just use the netspay wallet function. The exchange rate is actually quite good.
keeping loose change at first available opportunity is always wise in any country a visitor goes to, especially in japan when 10000 yen notes against a small sum to pay.

it's not difficult to 实名认证 . just send your passport all those over.

no idea why so many singaporeans scare here and there. simple things don't want to try
trip of 6 days and below, RMB cash in loose change upon arrival in city in china will be nice to have. Now there is top up service on wechat which worked fine for me yesterday for RMB 100

Almost 120 sgd for 500rmb. Lol

Now 500rmb only worth 92 dollars.

28 dollars of fee.

Somemore illegal source also.
yeah, only to test out the genuine nature of this transfer. I have to source another one to transfer more money to prepare for trip to china next year. read most of the comments which centred on authenticating the identity of wechat or alipay accounts. It is now compulsory to authenticate them and I had done them for wechat yesterday and many months ago for alipay. I still cannot source for top up to alipay yet.

You no need to top up your WeChat or Alipay, you can pay directly from your linked Credit Card.

Just sharing my personal opinion, it is best NOT to use unknown website to topup your Wechat pay or Alipay wallet.

I am here in China since Oct 15 , cash is still accepted .

In fact when i take the public bus service I prefer to use cash ( rmb 1 fixed for the city i
am in).

I also noticed that sometimes even the locals got "glitches" when paying with Wechat or Alipay due to signal issues on public buses .

Below is what I see some issue with "funds transfer" and what can happen going forward regarding topping up wallet from unknown website .

Currently in China , a lot of business people sometimes get their banking account frozen because "customer used suspected scam funds " .

Maybe next step they may "used" Wechat or Alipay account to " washed funds ", so personally I avoid using these website .

You don't want to be stop at immigration when you are flying home to assist in "investigation" no point ruining your holidays just because of this .

Above is just my opinion may or may not happened but I am a conservative guy so won't use such services .

by crossing over to Macau and than visa free starts from new entry date ?

Last year visa free was 15 days and I did exactly the same , just need to give the immigration officers the right answers , so far no problem
have been doing these for years .

Macau immigration don't even ask a single question as long as your passport is in order , only the chinese side will ask on re entry.

Ps if you are not staying in a Hotel but at friend's house or your own you need to ensure that within 24 hours of entry you need to register for a temp resident permit with the local police station in the area .
This is to ensure you fulfilled all the legal requirement .
