highway 9 should be pretty interesting. it snakes across the mountain range with many aboriginal villages along the way. seen documentary on it.

if you are travelling solo, you could also try to hitchhike

Hello Taiwan experts. Heading to KHH in 2.5 months time, need to start finding hotels already. I've roughly planned out where to go for the 8D7N trip with my wife. Can i get some feedback from the experts please?

Day 1: touch down KHH 10am, head to Kenting straight, check in hotel (thinking to book a sea view hotel away from the town area and maybe nearer to the lighthouse, is it too inconvenient/ulu even if i rent electric scooter?)

Day 2: Explore kenting

Day 3: Check out around lunch, make our way to Taitung via fangshan and check in, roam around taitung town since by the time we reach should be evening.

Day 4: Head out to Chishang for cycling tour around Mr Brown Avenue then to Sanxiantai around 4pm (is it even possible to get to Sanxiantai from Mr Brown after cycling?)

Day 5: Check out and take a ferry to Green island to stay 1 night

Day 6: Check out and head back to KHH. Probably arrive in late afternoon, to explore around KHH.

Day 7: Day trip to Tainan for food exploration

Day 8: Flight is at 7.50pm hence will head to Cijin island in the morning to explore the island via bicycle then back to the island in the afternoon and head to airport.

I'm actually thinking how to maximise my Day 3 to Day 5 so i can squeeze a night to stay in Tainan or else i can stick to a day tour to Tainan if it's too rush. My wife doesn't like her holiday too rush. lol

Good. From Kenting street to Eluanbi, it's not too far and there are buses to get there. So on this day, i doubt you will need the bike.

Day 2: Explore kenting

Good to have a bike.

Day 3: Check out around lunch, make our way to Taitung via fangshan and check in, roam around taitung town since by the time we reach should be evening.

Fangliao to Taitung. Do note, that the train station is not near to the city central. You will have to get a 台湾好行，to get you to town.
Suggest you to reach early, so that you can still pop by 知本 for their wonderful hotspring.


Day 4: Head out to Chishang for cycling tour around Mr Brown Avenue then to Sanxiantai around 4pm (is it even possible to get to Sanxiantai from Mr Brown after cycling?)

Very troublesome as it's a different route completely. One is rift valley, the other is the sea route. You can check out using google map.

Day 5: Check out and take a ferry to Green island to stay 1 night

Need to see if they have daily rides, if not you may need to fork out closed to 150SGD per person for a return ticket.

Day 6: Check out and head back to KHH. Probably arrive in late afternoon, to explore around KHH.

Day 7: Day trip to Tainan for food exploration

Day 8: Flight is at 7.50pm hence will head to Cijin island in the morning to explore the island via bicycle then back to the island in the afternoon and head to airport.

Not sure if you will like to do that, as you will be quite burned out in the sun

Kaysee: Probably i can stay at the hotspring place. Not sure if my wife will like hotspring, somemore end sept is still summer. Any other place to explore in Taitung for that evening instead? too bad the ferry to Green island ends at 3.30pm daily, else i will go green island on this day instead. Don't think i can make it to Taitung from Kenting before 3.30pm.

Kaysee: I saw through google map, anyone have any idea if it's possible to even get there from Mr brown avenue? Cab or something? i think main attractions i'm keen to see in Taitung only these 2 places and also go green island.

Thanks once again. Decided to engage my usual taiwan driver for him to quote me to make the kenting to taitung days easier. See how much isit first before i DIY myself.

Tainan or Taichung

15 Aug – Taipei to Taichung (overnight)
16 Aug – Taichung to Tainan (overnight)
17 Aug – Tainan to KaoHsiung (overnight)


Just wondering should I skip Taichung and do direct to Tainan on 15 Aug? Willl Taichung be more interesting than Tainan?

Been to Tainan 4-5 years back, hence cannot remember what is interesting there. Any suggestions?

Any decent accommodation to recommend at Tainan?

You are spending a night each in Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung? To me Kaohsiung is metropolitan and traveling within KH is easy. As for Taichung, if you plan to transit to SunMoon lake or other nearby cities, then yes. For Tainan, I would advise you to visit on another trip, the weather is just too hot.
